I believe the 70 are the writers of the septuagint or something connected to the greek septuagint.

Actually the seventy listed at the end of the Orthodox Study Bible (OSB) are the emissaries appointed by Jesus, as mentioned in Luke 10: "After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go." The number of these missionaries varies in different translations (in the Douay-Rheims is 72). The OSB includes an interesting and beautiful article on them.
