• Can you review my book?
I’m always happy to hear about upcoming books, but I’m afraid I don’t review self-published books and can only accept a small number of books for review. I enjoy reading classics, dystopian/apocalyptic novels, sci-fi, translated fiction and a variety of graphic novels, YA and contemporary literary fiction.
• Where is your accent from?
I was born and raised in the Netherlands, studied English Lit at Leiden University (also in the Netherlands), studied in the US for 3 months and have lots of American friends. I'm definitely not Irish or Canadian, I promise!
• Where do you live?
I live in London and have been here for 6 years now.
• How did you get into publishing?
I did publishing work experience, did a lot of networking and learned everything I know about social media from creating and running this channel. (P.s. You don't necessarily have to study Publishing or English to get a job in publishing!).

SO many amazing books, also I love hearing about Polish writers (and just translated fiction in general). My family is Polish but I unfortunately can't read it, so always looking for Polish translated fiction!

I really enjoy Becky Chambers' books, I like how they're focussed on the relationships between characters as much or more than other plotlines.

I've literally spent this whole month reading mostly space books. I never really considered myself a Sci-Fi person but I've been having the craving for space operas.

Great video guys - have added a couple of these to my TBR. Have either of you read the Old Man's War series by John Scalzi - would definitely recommend as one for people trying to get into sci-fi - very accessible and a cool concept 😊👍

I loved this! I took out all three Becky Chambers books from the library when I read them and am now on the lookout for editions that are ALL ONE SIZE. They have definitely been some of my favourite books of all time because of their lovingly satirising treatment of us humans. (: When I just looked at the editions that are on Book Depository, I saw that Becky Chambers has a new space-ish book out in August! Eek!!

I have done nothing today except: two loads of laundry, cleaning my hamster cage, and reading The Loneliest Girl in the Universe. I couldn’t put it down. Oh my. Thanks for the recommendation! I think...!

Have you read Good Morning Midnight by Lily Brooks-Dalton? I guess it's only half set in space, there are two parallel stories going on, one on earth and the other on the International Space Station (or a ISS-type space station!) I read it years ago and at the time I enjoyed it just like I enjoy most books I read but it's really stuck with me and I've never seen anyone mention it.

Ah Solaris, I have to read it some day. I didn't know the author was Polish. The 1972 movie was made by Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky who also directed Stalker. Both films are on youtube and are worth watching. I've never encountered movies that have so much dialog as these two. My favorite space book would have to be Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C Clarke. A real page turner, you actually feel like you're in that alien space ship. The Perry Rhodan books are a lot of fun if you can find them.

The only one of these that I read was Solaris, which I really enjoyed. Too bad about the English translation. I read a beautifully published Hungarian translation, which as far as I can tell from the info in the book is translated directly from Polish. I was wondering what you, as someone who studied translation thinks of such a double translation? Something gets lost in translation either way, but what if it's translated twice?

both becky chambers and lauren james are my favorites!! Especially the third wayfarer and... all of lauren’s let’s be real. I hadn’t heard about the watchmaker one, which I feel is blasphemous, and I’m so excited to have two books from her in less than six months!!.. Since the first Together-verse book ive ordered her ya from the uk to avoid having to deal with later US releases, old school Harry Potter style Also yay saga reference!
