Well, the brand name of the previous degree does matter and some UK professors may be more familiar with degrees from EU countries. But a good academic record, letters of references and some papers will help the case. Unlike the US, UK does not typically consider exams like GRE so they have to go by GPA and university name and letters.

You have to get a job after the PhD, apply for permanent residence and then citizenship. Consult uk immigration experts for more information.

If you get a funded postdoc generally you can take your family if the amount you get are deemed sufficient by the embassy issuing the visa. For most visa types there is a dependent visa category. But you need to do more research on country specific immigration rules.

The procedure is the same as for other fields. You have to ask professors in the area of work, find fellowships hosts and apply and also look in internet academic job sites.

Here in Uk the candiidate selection is not based only on your competences but also in where are u graduated your nationality your fit to their mentality.Research is also oriented to what other researchers do.they are more sick about originality. It is well paid compared to north america though
