Any more than percentage honesty is usually impossible in defence and trade matters to state the very obvious. Since WW2 Britain's declining military power combined with military procurement and staffing policies more about maintaining employment, training the unqualified and maintaining the officer class. Than actual effective military conventional and tactical nuclear capability means UK military and naval success has largely been achieved by bluff and outright deception.

The current British political system of Parliament is from an ancient era when truth and honour mattered. If we are living in a 'post truth era', then the entire Parliamentary system needs to be drastically reformed. It can no longer be acceptable for MPs to enjoy Parliamentary privilege and the assumption that they are honest and truthful without holding them to account.

TO PETROS PAVLOU PETROU); I basically couldn't get inside Margate Cemetery in Margate, Kent because of the rules implemented by "those purgee perpetrators politicians in England ". I had to sit outside the gate! My heart is melting, even today in the year of 2023. But the way, I'm Romanian Citizen living in U.K./G.B for the last 27 years. I absolutely came by boat, plains, legal citizen custom! But to watch wormwood politicians chipping out/in on " miselenums " that's toxic and criminal !

Middle-aged Adam (I'm 44) is a long way to the right of young Adam. I'm a card carrying Lib Dem who often lends his vote to Labour. 14 year old Adam would be horrified. However the idea that the Conservative party has moved so far to the right that I hear mention of Michael Heseltine and think warm thoughts is amazing. These current Tories are nuts.

Interesting post Adam. I’m 47 and Scottish but my journey has been shorter. From a young left to current left of centre, or social democrat type in modern European terms. I think it was Corbyn’s first GE manifesto (which wasn’t unlike a previous SNP one) which was basically progressive Social Democrat. But we have veered so far right in last 40 years it was castigated as being hard left. Nonsense. I heard someone say earlier that Thatcher would be classed as a Liberal Democrat these days! 😂

If I remember correctly the vote had a 3 line whip, so voting against the government is grounds for withdrawing the whip. It would be a rather sweet kind of justice if Sunak has the stones to withraw the whip from Johnson, especially considering the number of relatively sane tories he forced out.

As the years and decades of have gone by the Conservative party has seen how far it can push not working for those who vote for it. Seems to me we have reached a point where they believe so strongly that they are above the law that it doesn't matter one jot what they do.
