From a physics perspective what she's doing in her largest dynamic moves is actually using less power. She's able to increase the time of the move, and this increases the amount of work her hands can do by stretching out the time that she has to stop the momentum. If you do it the move "faster" meaning with less dramatic swing, you would need more force through your hands to stop the same move. This means she can use less force through a longer distance and be more likely to stay on the holds.

that's the basic of collision reduction, like a car bumper extending the time the collision last to absorb more energy of the collision, my understanding

Wait so collision reduction is an actual physics term? I always thought of it as a climbing term

@@saltyboba8892 I don't know if it is the proper English/Physics term, but this all what is behind the EuroNCAP or all those car crash security improvements. Increase the latency of the collision to reach it's end to let the materials absorb more energy. In the case of Janja, I don't think she completely loosen the lower body, she makes the moves last longer, and finally, her dynamic moves are slower than others (We should try measuring the time between jump and stabilisation of some climbers to be sure). On the other hand, If I try to do that, my hands will slip out of the hold, and that is where the Mystery remains for me (and why I would like a video on holds :)).

@@francoisjeanmougin4405 dayummm thats true her movements are somewhat slower. like when she does a coordination boulder she almost waits for her body to lag behind her we can have a look at coordination moves in general next time! measuring the time could be a fun way to compare yes we will definitely do one holds video cause im a climbing holds nerd haha

Wow man this was very, like very educational. I really struggle with absorbing momentun while bouldering, cant wait to try it out and it would be very nice to see a video about holds in your style. Keep it up with the fire content 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

it took abit of convincing to get alex handhold on, he was kinda busy looking for a new mountain to free solo and worry his fiance

Well, basically when you show static positions where a climber has only 2 points of contact and doesn't barn door it happens simply because for those positions "barndooring" has already happened. I mean usually barndoor moves climber's body from a desired postion to some wierd position, where from the physics perspective an equillibrium is achieved (center of gravity is at the lowest position, for example at 6:48, Magnus already in the lowest postiton to the left, so barndoor doesn't happen). And the problem here is that in this equilibrium position holds may not hold you as well and people thus fall. Janja however lets her go in those postion, by using her strength and flexibility to keep holding those holds. Most people i guess don't know these moves so well, or those holds, and feel like they would injure themselves, so they have to fall after the swing (e.g. if didn't know it was Janja the Queen i would be really worried for her shoulders here 5:48).
