This acrylic pour painting (flip cup) is inspired by the colors of the planet Biitula in the game Boundless. Boundless is a hugely addictive game filled with creative people that build amazing structures. The game uses a huge color palette. There are dozens of planets each with its own colors. Since I can't play the game (too addictive for me), I decided to do some paintings inspired by the planets in Boundless. Here is the first! Hope you enjoy!

Thank you! Is glitch a game, or are you saying you are a glitched gamer (like me, lol)? I wish so much I could play games, but I end up getting completely lost in them and a bit hypomanic. Bipolar sucks. :-( Quitting games was harder than quitting booze for sure.

Cool , the way you grab paint and drag it over the edges and corners with your hand .👌

What's boundless Jenny? Have you suffered from addiction issues in the past? Real addiction, or painting addiction? I know more about addiction then I would ever care to know. Best part, is when God steps in and saves lives.

This is Coral, Iona! Can you explain to me why the mixed paint gradually turns out like a bubble pattern?

Coral!!! Thanks for visiting. I miss the game a lot!! The effects come from a number of things, but primarily from the way fluids of different densities react when they move over each other - heavier pigments sink into the lighter ones. I use a couple of things to help facilitate that natural process. I add silicone oil to the paints, and I use heat to speed up the process. Here is a blog post I wrote that talks about what makes cells if you are interested: acrylicpouring.com/how-not-to-get-cells/ Wish I could log in to see what amazing creations you have been making, but I am afraid I would never leave.

Thanks! Yes, I do use treadmill silicone oil, but I also try to think about paint consistency and a bunch of other things. I have some more detailed process videos (check the video description for a link to one).

How do you finish your paintings off? Do you use varnish or resin?
@JennyPost
@JennyPost 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ellie!! I typically don't do any varnishing or resin on my paintings. I have been assured by several professional artists that it is entirely unnecessary with the type of paintings we are doing. NOW, if I am working with craft paint or cheaper paint with less pigment, I might choose to use resin or varnish to bring out more of the colors. Cheap paint makes more mud and is not as vibrant, but the varnish brings up the colors. Hope this helps :-)

@@JennyPost If your going to introduce your paintings to the public, just know that over time the colors will start to take on a yellow tone. About 30+ years from now. If you want it to last for generations, a polyurethane, (2 coats) will seal it up for even and won't allow yellowing. In my experiences.
