BRITISH RAILWAYS IN THE 1990's
Wigan Springs Branch Depot & Junction on 12th October 1991
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Springs Branch Depot in Wigan on 12/10/1991. On my journey south down the M1 I stopped off for a break at Wigan Springs Branch. It seemed a hive of activity with loads of loco movements on and off the depot and with the added bonus of seeing Pathfinders Tours "The Wye Knot" flash by with 26007 + 26043 on their leg from Crewe to Carlisle via the S + C route. A few pairs of class 20s on coal traffic and several class 86s on the WCML with a variety of stock are also captured on video. I have never returned to this location, but expect it is just an EMU depot as the Rail Atlas suggests. I do hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.
