Hello, which gummy form have you been taking if you don’t mind my asking. I’ve only been taking a liquid tincture (Mary Ruth’s organic Ashwaghanda Root liquid drops) that kicks in within about 15-20 mins to help me fall asleep and get a good nights rest. I’m really interested in knowing due to the assisting with eliminating the extra cortisol. Thank you so much in advance.

Thank you for this presentation. I've been watching my waking up time change from 5:00 A.M to 2:00 A.M. since I retired a few years ago. I'm not sure what the change with my circadian rhythm means, but I've heard that cortisol may have that effect on sleep patterns. Also, I have made diet changes and stopped smoking cigarettes and drinking any alcoholic beverages. While living healthier and exercising daily, along with mainly drinking water all day, has made me feel better for the most part; I rarely get 8 hours sleep. I've tried ashwaganda before , a couple times because I slept a little deeper , but I didn't remember hearing about ashwaganda's ability to lower cortisol. This presentation gives me an extra reason to benefit from ashwaganda and that's called lowering cortisol. 2 of the several brands available that you listed ,who have 'USP tested and approved' labels are for sale at one of my favorite herbal remedies stores. I purchased one of them yesterday and this video pop's up. Who'd a thunk it? Anyhow. I put this video in my 'Better Health' playlist. Now comes the investigation part where I make a choice of the available options from the best sources. It may take a while to collect personally accurate data pertaining to better sleep patterns and possibly even a little weight loss. I also plan on monitoring blood pressure and heart rate, since you mentioned it. Also, the part about the absorption time of several weeks before ashwaganda's full affects can be felt, must be considered. I appreciate your dive into this rabbit hole ahead of me and all the research and the links to the other rabbit holes along the trail that you have followed before I got here. Toodle loo.

As a Social Worker I took a course in Statistics. In the course I leaned that "Significant" in statistical term can mean just slightly better than zero effect. When I hear someone say that a study showed product "X" to be "significantly" better than nothing or something else, i think that it may be as low as 1 or 2 percent better which statistically speaking is significant but not not really much of an improvement at all. It is interesting that when the term "significantly" is used it is hardly ever followed by the actual percentage of improvement. Aside from that, I loved the video and the information you provided. I had never heard of this product but will buy it and try it. Thanks for the video.
@joelangford7601

I am glad you made the point about statistical "significance." On first listening, it is easy to think this stuff is like a miracle. But these "significant" effects may be quite modest. Of course, even if they are modest, it would still be important to find an herb which has effects on so many body functions. I loved the video, but would like to hear a lot more details about the studies. Guess I will have to go the literature myself for that.

It is rare for "studies" to be performed on natural herbs... compared to pharmaceuticals or synthetics which are manmade and prone to be dangerous due to human error alone. Big Pharma needs studies that they usually pay for to get approval for use. The government can't approve what God already made nor can they permit, license or regulate what God made. Also, allopathic or licensed doctors cannot tell you chicken soup can treat your cold because there isn't a "study" to back it up.... even though everybody knows chicken noodle soup helps. So Big Pharma can control what doctors prescribe and since their products are the only ones with studies and "approval", Big Pharma makes ungodly amounts of money while effectively banning vitamins and natural supplements of every kind... whether they work or not.

i had and still have horrible witdrawals from it. Im a semi professional athlete, competing in two sports, spartan races and weighted pull ups, and i took ashwagandha for last 5 months, without thinking much of it. I liked the effects, and took 1000mg a day, which now i found out is waay too much. Last week i stumbled on Hubermans video explaining importance of Ashwa cycling, so i decided to come off for 14 days as advised, and hop back on it, but later with lower dose. Man... Next day, slight increased in anxiety, second day, spike in anxiety and elevated heart rate ( I run 30-40km a week plus heavy weight training, so my blood pressure and resting heart rate was always excelent) now my heart rate is at "relaxed" 85, sometimes 90 which is way to high for me, and whole day i have this crippling anxiety on a verge of panic attack. one more thing to note some of these adaptogenic herbs including ashwagandha can have an opposite effect on some people, for various reasons e.g. over or under methylation. in my years I've noted quite a few people that can't tolerate these, and it makes their insomnia, anxiety, ocd and worse. but I've also seen it work wonders in others. Great video too. Thanks

I bought this and planning to use it as a one time treatment for max 2 months and see how I feel. I am having a rough and stressful part of my life right now and I am desperate for something to help me get energized and less stressed. I am of course a bit worried about side effects, but I am considered a healthy young adult, and I've read so many good reviews about this, so maybe I will be ok. I will try and get more exercise as well and try get my spirits up. If I feel funny then I will stop taking these. Thanks for the video.

Have you ever thought about writing material for children about neurology, or doctors in general? I think it could be very impactful in terms of inspiration and awareness of neurology and other specialties. Maybe you could even create a character named Neurogal (and her colleagues) to provide explanations. I know even adults don't realize how many specialties and sub-specialties exist, and what their roles fully involve. I feel that your content can reach and benefit people of all ages.
@stevenmitchell1
@stevenmitchell1 8 ай бұрын
What do you think Neurogal is? It's a character that purports to be a doctor explaining various Psych 101 concepts and coupled with a very brief and superficial literature review. In all fairness, she does advise potential users to consult their medical doctor before experimenting with Ashwaghanda. But a college student could have put the same presentation together.

Happy 1st day of May Anna! Absolutely enjoyed this new psych video! 🙂 Ashwagandha was a supplement I had never heard of until you have spoken about it today! I too am very hesitant on supplements I take for myself whether it's for medication or vitamins. As you have said, there are not too many clear side effect explanations for these supplements and Pharmacists absolutely need to take that into consideration. But after seeing this, I have learned a lot about both the benefits and side effects of Ashwagandha! For me personally, my preference for calming anxiety is by watching ASMR videos 💙 Watching them helps he a lot more with relaxation since I appreciate more visual and audio triggers than having supplements haha. Overall, I hope your Sunday is going great and thanks for this Anna! 🙌

Thank you for this video. From my anecdotal experience it has worked for me by reducing anxiety. I no longer ‘worried’ as I laid down for sleep. I don’t know how, it just did. I’m 57 and in good health. You know when you have anxiety. The interesting thing is that you don’t know when you are not anxious. Only after a period of time, reflecting back, did I realize that. I do take breaks every 90 days for 2-3 weeks. Why? I don’t know. Just felt right.

I've been in nursing for 50 years. You are typical of newbies who think Nursing school= MD. This supplement, like everything else, should be used as needed. If you're super stressed every single day, you need to speak with a Counselor. People who take supplemental herbs should always do so with every bit of knowledge they can get but herbs are helping so many people who have no health insurance. It's great that you do have it. I do too, but millions do not. Remember, never sit in your Ivory tower and wag your finger at people.

Ashwaganda is one my all-time favorite herbs, and while I sometimes feel like I’m insensitive to many herbs, not so for ashwaganda- definitely effective. I use it for chronic insomnia and stress. Turns out it can also be beneficial for sperm count and motility, so having my partner trying it now. I have used Organic India ashwaganda but frankly didn’t find it particularly effective. I absolutely love Himalaya brand- the bomb.

I've tried the Ashwaganda herb. The reason why I stopped consuming it was that the activity in the central nervous system cools down (felt sedating), and didn't work well with my yoga exercises and finger mudras. The energy levels decreased also, so I replaced Ashwaganda with Rhodiola Rosea, a herb having many of the same effects as Ashwaganda. The Rhodiola Rosea feels more energizing and can repair damaged neurons, and improves the signalling between the neurons.
