Sometimes if they worry and don’t do anything about it, it doesn’t mean they are a bad parent, could relate to mental health. I’m not referring to actual abuse though, but to other things that parents fail at.

I'm starting to tear up because I know Sean wants to move on and I don't want him to leave. I've been watching him and Ethan for years. Since the dyed hair days. But I also understand why. I've been in jobs that I hate because the work environment is bad but I get stuck in a comfort zone. And maybe that's a part of what they're going through. But when you finally leave, you feel free. Leaving that job felt like the best day of my life and I am finally moving on to do better things. So a part of me understands, but a part of me is selfish. I just want to say that both of you guys are amazing, the things you two have accomplished in your career is wonderful. You guys paved the way for youtubers and even after you guys are gone, your legacy will remain.

This... It makes me so sad, I love Sean I just resonate so much with his content and personality. I loved his high energy videos and I will be forever mad at the people who insulted him and made him feel bad for being himself, forcing him to tone it down and become so self aware of it.. Pewds, him, Jenna, these guys are my top three KZfaqrs and two of them are gone now/don't post much anymore. I already feel like this platform became super empty for me. When Sean and Ethan also go it's only going to be Mark, Bob and Wade left here to enjoy in terms of gaming content. I feel really shitty for the shift that happened on this platform. I miss how things were back in the day when Felix had blonde hair and beard and was doing batshit crazy stuuff all the time. It was hillarious for the most part, some of the best content on KZfaq is from that time. When people seemed more open and jokes were a tad more edgy, when content wasn't always censored and catered to audience and sensitivities... Not saying that people shouldn't be mindful of others, but I feel like things are taken to an extreme these days... Sigh...

How does Matt have the most perfect and profound answer for everything! And with no delay for thought most times. As some one a little older than him, I experienced all these milestones and came to those same realizations about life events, but I don’t think I could have ever explained those concepts like he does. On parenting specifically
@matthewbrooks5470

Some things just click better for certain people. I would say that gleaning those “profound” lessons is just something he as a person chose to focus on. However, just because your brain doesn’t click with it right away doesn’t mean you need to give up on it; you just need to work a bit harder to get there but you’re just as capable

I think one of the reasons why Mat is so skilled in script writing, being a public speaker, etc. is his ability to communicate ideas in ways that he knows the audience will be able to best understand. I've been watching him for a long time, not really on the Theory channels but more so on GTLive where he & Steph used to livestream daily and I noticed how naturally he would be able to talk & explain concepts so well just on the fly. It's probably also a huge contributor to why the Theory channels did so well and could be due to his theatre background. This skill of his matched with his empathy makes him such a great teacher, and I hope whatever he chooses to do after this point involves him continuing to teach others.

35:33 stopping something that you've done for a long time is difficult and "losing" something voluntarily more so. When you decide to lose it voluntarily or involuntarily (such as getting fired) can cause you to feel grief and the longer you've done something, the more you're attached and the harder the grief will hit. Its natural and you see it a lot in actors and tv people when TV series' end or movies wrap up. Also, the audience feels that too. The longer you've been a part of a creators community the harder that feeling will hit and its okay. Edit: Matpat actually mentioned it haha

44:08 "I wanna see if I can write stuff, I wanna see If I can make narrative-driven content, I wanna see if I can create characters that go further" That wish is in-line with what MatPat said about KZfaq content shifting towards thesis/idea-based content. I think that's something you should **really** talk to (Call Me) Kevin about, since recently he even said one of the reasons he was decreasing his upload frequency was valuing quality over quantity (so he can focus on making more creative content). Also, I think it's worth pointing out that kinda content can still involve gaming, which is something Kevin has a lot of experience in (case in point: the recurrent characters he created, like Jim Pickens and Grognak the Destroyer). In fact, I'd love if you invited him to be a guest here!

Interesting thought I had when Sean mentionned Felix: for a lot of us, our "classics" which for me would be Felix, Jack, Mark, Matpat, the grumps, and to me even other channels like Vsauce, will always be in my heart. I hadn’t seen any videos of Felix for years, but when I saw that they had released their wedding video, I watched and cried like a little baby. We all grow up, and although the creators do too, for the sake of their channels, sometimes doing major changes can be a dangerous move, which means that the audience that was so loyal to them might not follow closely anymore, but that doesn’t mean we don’t like them anymore or that we don’t step in once in a while to check their content out. In my case, as a person who changed career and is now studying to become a nurse, I don’t have time to watch videos anymore. But "reconnecting" with the creators I loved through podcasts - such as Brain Leak and Distractible - made me so happy. Once in a while I still go check a game theory when I have a second to breathe. All of this to say - the people who followed you years ago and aren’t anymore aren’t necessarily elsewhere, watching other things. Sometimes it’s life that forces us to stop.

Sean has always had so much potential and as someone who's grown up with Jack and his Content since I was 12 years old now 24 I would honestly be so happy for him to discover and mess around with that potential he has outside of KZfaq because he's capable of doing so much more amazing things and has so much stuff he should be treating himself to experience elsewhere. I will genuinely grieve when he does decide to part with KZfaq but I will still be cheering for him on the sidelines. There is still so much more he can accomplish and he deserves to do that so so much.

I am really loving this episode 🥰 Fantastic guest, I was so pumped when you guys announced this was coming last week. And the child development discussions were so sweet and fascinating! MatPat is such a sweet dad and it makes me so happy to hear that he's taking his kid's anxieties/things that make him uncomfortable/distressed instead of ignoring him. I've had really awful sensory issues since I was little and no one understood why I was so distressed but it was like being in physical pain. So happy to hear the cute stories from Mat and his son 🥹❤ Also, the youtube talk right after the whole Watcher situation got ignited and is currently being debated is really interesting. They took the exact opposite of the approach MatPat is talking about with Ryan Trahan. Not trying to bring up any drama, I just think it's a really cool dichotomy to exactly what they're trying to explain

This was amazing in all different types of ways but so so nice to hear Matt talking about how much he cares about his audience especially after the watcher situation that just happened what made me think they don’t care and it’s just nice to here him talk about us like that because I trust him in his words and it was just great

Ugh I hate modern KZfaq. I don’t get content from the creators I’m interested in, if i search one thing my feed is full of it for days. It’s nice to get a explanation of why, never made the connection that youtube is battling tiktok. Thanks MatPat for comjng to my favorite podcast.

I'm really glad this was a longer episode, usually brain leak are around 1 hour marks. After the anniversary, I'm glad Sean and Ethan are trying to do something different every year! Never missed an episode and this was one of the new versions that I liked a lot! Also the one with Arin felt so nice, because we can see how in-tune youtubers are with each other.... Previously there used to be so many Collab's, I guess I just miss that time of KZfaq!

As someone who always wanted to start a channel and just got caught up in life for seemingly too long, I very much appreciate mod way through and the conversation of this podcast.

I loved how well this went. I felt like they had prepared questions before. I do love the adhd but appreciate the flow of this one, too. The boys had mentioned trying to stay on task more, and I think they did a great job! I really felt like Ethan was prepared with those questions, and they were well written. Also, this was basically my introduction to matpat. My kids watch, but I've never seen him other than thankmas. I loved the episode! He seemed so sweet and loved how much he talked about his kid. So sweet! I would love to see more flow but also the chaos as well in others. This is my favorite podcast!
