@@Petespans we stayed about half an hr from Alcobaça in a town called Benedita. We visited Obidos, Alcobaça, Lisboa, Coimbra, Nazaré and Batalha.

I am a huge fan of pork (and don't forget BEEF) cheeks! I make them 5-6 times a year. I will have to try this one. Thanks, Pete!

@@Petespans yep, about the size of 3-4 pork cheeks. And just like pork cheeks, velvety and delicate in texture and deep in beef flavor. 😎

Made this last night. It was a hit. I used black eyed peas because that's what I had on hand. Pork cheeks are not easy to find in the US. Going to order some proper Spanish white beans for next time.

I finally found them at a pork slaughterhouse 30 miles away. “Nobody’s ever asked for the cheek meat before. You want just the lean, right, not the whole jowl?” “Right.” “We’ll cut it for you tomorrow. $4.99 a pound ok?”
