Installation of brake pads on Lexus IS350 F-sport. Video covers instructions on how to change the brake pads from your own garage.
Apologies about the bad audio, it was a really hot day and I had the fan turned on High.
Basic tools are needed such as:
- Ratchet
- Breaker Bar
- 21mm socket (for wheel lug nuts)
- 17mm socket (for caliper bolts)
- Needle Nose Pliers
- C-clamp
- Rubber Mallet (optional)
Few items not shown in video:
1) Removal of pin was done by hammering it out using a 3” nail
2) It was easier to remove the caliper after compressing the pistons with the brake pads still attached to them. This was done on the passenger side. After compressing, you can slides the pads out and then remove the caliper assembly.
A)I needed to use a mallet on the driver side caliper to remove it since I didn’t compress the piston.
After driving around with these new pads, I decided I don’t like them much. While they create less brake dust, the brake pedal ‘feel’ isn’t quite what it used to be. Braking power feels the same, but it seems like you have to push the brake pedal more to get the same bite.
