This Dewalt gun is next to brand new. The customer says it was jamming constantly from new.
He sent it off to dewalt for repair under warranty and simply came back the same way.
A simple manufacture fault where the tension roller spring was not installed correctly.
It's a simple fix that really should have been picked up on.

I do 90% of my tool repairs myself. Why? Because im not a Mr. KNOW IT ALL. I literally watch videos like this to gain knowledge of how ti fix the damn tool myself rather than get frustrated w/ the manufacturer doing a piss poor job on not correcting the problem. One thing I've learned, not all new tools that come out on the market are worth buying. I usually wait from 3 to 6 months on tool reviews from other reliable and knowledgeable tradesmans that love posting the honest reviews. YT is a great source of knowledgeable bloggers and you sir are very well rounded on you presentations and explanations in your videos. Kudos and thanks for the info. I was actually contemplating buying a couple of these dewalt framing nailers and been researching the reviews.

Interesting take on the fault with your monologue there, which I agree with 100%. The companies often think the customer is stupid, which they can be, but not always

I'm not sure about that. If a new tool doesn't work and you can proof that it's not your fault and the company has to fix it. I guess more often the repair team of the company has a internal process which doesn't cover everything and needs to be fast in repairment as a new tool is not too expensive in manufacturing.

I had the same problem with the gun kept jamming every time i fired a 75 or 90mm nail, took it apart, nothing obvious stood out but what i did see was that the springs weren't running smoothly on the two bars. Both springs were new, and I know it says not to oil the gun but they mean the firing pin and fly wheel as it needs friction, so I oiled the springs and the two runners that they slide onto, it fires like a champ!! Just oil it with a cloth not a spray can!

Well met Dean, those are a bugger that finger snapper clip. One thing you did at the end but didn’t explain was obviously not done at the warranty shop: test it under load, all modes. Something I do with every tool repaired, within reason. Those ten or so nails fired, screws driven, cuts made will soon show if there’s an outstanding issue, or a faulty part installed.

Having repaired my DC618 several times (It's shot so many boxes of nails), I've noticed the reliability of the tensioning spring mechanism is better in the DC618- for the concrete and framing nailers, they went with a weird auto-tensioning design... It doesn't tension all the way so the firing pin slips. Entirely a design fault.

Hey, just recently came across your channel and I'm loving it As a newly self employed repairman (21yo), if you don't mind sharing, how much would u charge a simple fix like this? Charge the years of experience that made it look easy and fast or just 5-10£
@verifiedduncepackcrew5586
@verifiedduncepackcrew5586 11 ай бұрын
Idk what he charges but I've worked at 3 shops over 20 yrs. We always had min charges. Average labor for power tools aside from chipping hammers is $28-$35 US. This includes air nailers. That allows u 20-30 min labor which is enough to cover repairing, testing , cleaning of the item. Each order also has a $2 shop fee to cover things like small amounts of grease, oil and rags.

@@John316OBrian-cm4fj problem is if u start going over about 60% of the cost to replace it you'll find many customers will deny the repair which means u make nothing. Keep it under 60% and theyll always approve repairs. It all balances out as well. Some repairs will take u 5 min because you become very efficient and you still charge around $30 labor. Also u make around 20% on parts.

Yea the dewalt framing nail gun can have issues, we have 4 at work 2 get used and 2 are for back up. I have not bought one my self due to this reason. I have many dewalt tools including the 16 straight trim nailer, and no issues at all with it, i bought it because we use the 16 ga angle trim nailer at work, well when it works. It might be due to the angle nails but ill stay away from them

A tool that brand new, I’m surprised they didn’t just take it back to the seller for a replacement. Makes me wonder if that’s poor design instead of just poor manufacturing. That doesn’t seem like a very secure way to retain the spring. But maybe you just made reinstallation look easier than it is. I’m suspicious of any spring that doesn’t need 4 letter persuasion to go where it’s bloody supposed to.

Yeah, usually with in the first 90 days it's just swap out for a new item. Even DeWalt will tell you to take back to the store in first 3 months. Maybe the 'store' didn't have another one to replace it with. Idk, it definitely seems unusual. I also agree on fully testing the repaired tools, as there may be more than one fault that may not be obvious unless tool is actually put to 'work'. 👍👌🔌⚡🛠️🔧🗜️🔩📏✏️📐🔨🚧⚠️😄🤔

When you hook the torsion spring back over the pinch roller carrier, you should also re-seat the little foam isolator (on the other leg of the spring) in the slot in the carriage as well, otherwise you risk the other end breaking as well.

SBD needs to move away from the flywheel system. The recoil forces all the gauges guns to lift away from the surface and shoot mid air leaving the heads proud. 18g is the worst.

I'd say find a new 'repair' shop that actually knows how to fix the tools. Sounds like the so-called repair guy has a problem w\ DeWalt tools, must be a Milwaukee(is the one & only, best & no other tools are even close to their immense superiority!😂) fan boy - typical! 😅 Anyways, I'm not sure what's wrong w\ it but I'd say take it all apart & inspect everything very closely. May not be a necessarily broken part, but may be worn too severely to work properly. 👍👌🔌⚡🛠️🔧🗜️🔩📏✏️📐🔨🚧⚠️😄🤔

Didn't you pull wire weld nails out of it? Those are 28 degree. The paper collated nails are 30-34 depending on if they are clipped head or offset head. That could have contributed to the issue too. I'm guessing it's a 30 degree nailer

Hey, Dean! Please help me! I bought a used paslode 902600 that leaves shiners about 80% of the time and misfires about 20% of the time. I took everything a part including the piston, exhaust reeds, and rings, and cleaned everything. The batteries are fully charged (voltage is good on them), has new gas, and everything seems okay along with with the nail driver. It will drive some nails deep as hell into wood but the rest are shiners. Could it be a bad piston rings or combustion chamber leak? There was a bunch of crud a carbon deposits behind the piston

That spring desigh is so stupid. They need better retention mechanism. Anout a year or so ago, I had both of them on my gun coming off loose. So it could only fire facing down. Wouldnt fire in horizontal position, would not fire upside down. Simple fix. But the design is stupid regardless.
