Stephen Hughes It's a pretty childish thing to do. "Oh, you beat me? Fine, I'll just waste your time." Of course with an online game, time wouldn't be wasted, you just ignore the game. I've won about 5 games in the past week like this on the Chess.com app.

To me is the battle of Hastings a very beautiful name. The original Battle of Hastings in 1066 shaped England as it is today. It is the reason that a top chess tournament was held in Hastings. To call that game 'The battle of Hastings' is saying that this game is the best games of all chess games played in Hastings and a milestone in the history of chess.

4:19 -- What's interesting about Ne6 is that it's the only move here that leads to White having winning chances. Anything else is drawing. 5:21 -- Not only can the rook be taken by the queen, Black must do so to have any chance at all in a losing endgame where he'd be up a passed d-pawn with the opponent having a knight. (As is often the case in chess, Steinitz's opponent calculated the seeming best line to a poor result, and so chose an even worse response instead.) 6:04 -- The king does have the square of e8, but then he's immediately checkmated by Qf8. 7:55 -- Black does have one more option: his queen takes the rook, which goes like this: Qxg7, Rxc8+, Rxc8, Qxc8+, and White is again up a knight. (Of course Black should avail himself of taking the brave rook with his queen earlier, before the needless loss of his h-pawn.)

This must be the possibly be one of the greatest chess games played in the history of chess, not withstanding bardeleben's walk out in a huff. Thank god for human ingenuity. Steinitz is a genius. With this one game Steinitz can proudly say I'm equal to Morphy (not that he stood a chance against him, that I'm willing to challenge). But thank God there was no engine. Otherwise we would never have such a masterpiece.!!!

actually, I had already seen this game, and before 5:10 I had thought that the bravest rook was gonna be the other one, because it was constantly hanging, and so was back rank mate with him, but he couldn't be captured because of the constant checks. Also, sth unrelated to this, I happen to be in an online lesson, and when we connected in, my teacher said hello everyone. even though I'm pretty sure she doesn't watch Agadmator

The king cannot capture my rook coz it will definite draw. So he ran away and away avoiding my rook..meantime the rook enjoying capturing all the opponent pieces. Eventually..my opponent accept the draw. The one and only game i've been in this memorable game. Sure Wak Untung remember this game..MAS Engineering hehe. Has anybody playing like this?
