As far as an ANZAC day test week I think it's a great idea. Don't make it a Bledisloe test, that should remain played during the Championship so both squads get some time together. Make the ANZAC test a 1 off trophy that alternates home ground every year between NZ and Aus. Win it and you hold the trophy for the year. ANZAC day is a big thing for both countries.

Respectfully to JK, I think he should have a forum and I do want to hear his ideas, but I don’t think The Breakdown is a suitable forum for JK. As commented already, he doesn’t add the value he should for the amount of tv time he takes from Mils and Jeff (who spends more time than necessary responding to inane questions and jibes about the Highlanders). Less JK, more Mils and other presenters. Also, more Kimberlee Downs! She’s doing great things on this show.

Gotta agree with JK in regards to the tackle. Watched the game live and was pretty surprised at the Australian commentators complaining about the tackle. The Australian coverage for rugby isn't great already and having commentators complaining about a perfectly legal tackle is not a great look for the game over there.

@jameshartzenberg5763
@jameshartzenberg5763 Ай бұрын
Hi replier. My opinion is more in defense of any player and in defense of the sport itself. Injuries can happen because of the nature of the sport BUT it can significantly be reduced or even avoided by safe techniques. I'm sure you're willing to accept an injury if it is totally by mistake héy. Let me give you this example. " Pedestrian paths is the (prefered/legal ) way to cross roads hey but that doesn't necessarily make it (save / incident free ) Consider injuring /losing a life at a place intended to avoid just that.
@angusfaceful
@angusfaceful Ай бұрын
@@jameshartzenberg5763 I think you're looking at the outcome of the tackle instead of the tackle itself. The tackle technique was very good and in no way was it unsafe at all. Just because someone got hurt doesn't mean it was unsafe or illegal.

This is my observation,I'm certain Joe Schmidt would have noticed our wingers Telea and Sevu sniping around the ruck fringes, however this exposed the wing flanks and the Australian teams have speed to burn ,ref two tries to Junk yard dog Ryan .

Well they touched on one players tackle so JK could hear himself talk for 5 minutes. Otherwise yeah, wouldn't have known the Chiefs even played. The Aotearoa Podcast, usually a far better show, is also guilty of the same thing. Even coverage across all games doesn't seem to be on the agenda.

Those tackles is spot on, nothing wrong except for the late shot. 😂 The only danger that might get him into trouble is when the tackled player lower his hight slightly. It will unfortunately look ugly and spectators will influence the ref. I will be happy if our Springboks tackle like that.

Fiji done well regarding the on field side of the game.The Drua done well at Super Rugby. But their stadiums are away too small for international games.Their Stadiums are not international standard. So it is bad idea to bring them into Rugby Championship.The money is not there. Japan have the money and the stadiums.Japanese television market is Huge.Bring them into championship.
@schnickeringhen

Why couldn’t we have both teams? I don’t reckon we should rule Fiji out - they’re an awesome, developing team who can smash some of the tier one nations on their day. They deserve to be pulled in. The ABs, Aussie and other teams have benefitted from Fijian talent for a long time and we should be supporting them to grow their own team now. They really need to host some big games there so they can benefit from the revenue and continue to grow the sport, and hopefully get bigger and better facilities if that’s what they need.

Great show as always guys but this show did leave me with one little gripe. I hate it when i hear suits refering to the sport we love as a product. I think these type of people in suits with their eyes fixed on only money are half the problem in rugby today in both northern & southern hemispheres. Here in wales a few years ago the wru sunk £60m into developing a hotel? A hotel??? Meanwhile our regions are sinking finanicially & losing more top quality players every season to french & english leagues. But none of the suits at the wru can i explain why. Suits! You've got to hate them.

JK should leave rugby union and completely convert to league. Same tackle as when Sam Cane got red carded but in Super Rugby you don't get carded. Great for local rugby but at test level it will cost you a World Cup.

There appears to be an element of both arrogance and naivety in the panel's assessment of Finaus's tackling technique. Notably, his approach often seems late, and at times, borders on reckless, as evidenced by his frequent trips to the sin bin. This situation is reminiscent of the dialogue surrounding Sam Cane's comments on team discipline prior to the unfortunate defeat against South Africa at Twickenham, just before the World Cup. When questioned, Cane confidently dismissed concerns about discipline. However, fast forward to the final, and it was Cane's dismissal for ill discipline that significantly contributed to the team's loss. This serves as a cautionary tale of the potential consequences of underestimating such issues.
