Here's where you can try Bricked In by Arbitrary: app.crackingthecryptic.com/Dm...
Normal sudoku rules apply. Digits separated by white dots are consecutive. If a region of cells is enclosed by a section of orange line, then the sum of digits in the area enclosed by the line is equal to the sum of the digits along the perimeter line section. Digits may repeat on area sum lines if permitted by other rules. Area sum regions have orange lines running around them, but not through them.

I keep meaning to say this and never have: I really love the thumbnails you have for so many of these videos. It can't be trivial having so many custom thumbs done day after day and they're often good for a laugh or a smile.

I looked at the video time and thought it was one I could solve. Nope! I really have to hand it to Mark for getting through it so efficiently.

This was a masterful solve❗️👏👏👏👏👏 It appeared easy for Mark, but it was quite a challenge for me. Mark was able to identify the "weakest" (most restricted) cells without any trouble, even when their value was restricted by complex indirect interactions with regions and lines. Again, 👏👏👏👏👏

I can't do this puzzle and it's frustrating me almost to the point of tears. The first square with the given 5 is easy enough to figure out, and I THINK I have the connected larger region centered around box 5 figured out, but there's a degree of freedom I just can't resolve, and I can't even fathom where to go from THERE. I envy the two commenters who got 14 minute solves so much I almost hate them... No, that's not right. I envy EVERY commenter who was able to solve this at ALL. I didn't want to watch the video because I thought I could do this puzzle on my own. I SHOULD be able to solve this puzzle on my own, but I JUST CAN'T.

If you're feeling frustrated, take a break and come back to it later. With a fresh perspective you might see the solution. And there's nothing wrong with referring to the video for a hint. I've done so countless times. With practice I've gotten better and don't need hints as often

Hi. Saw your comment and having struggled initially myself (I missed the central region completely which was more than a little frustrating), I thought you might appreciate a few pointers. First, make sure you’ve utilised all the information in relation to row 5 column 4, row 7 column 4, row 7 column 6 and row 3 column 6. You will need to check some of them together and bear in mind overlaps but it’s not too bad to work out. You should then be left with a value for row 6 column 6 and row 7 column 7 together which you can use to limit the possible sums of the 2-cell region they border. Next comes the box 5 3-cell region, which will give the value of row 3 column 5 added to row 5 column 7. Using some sort of colouring will reveal the rest and from there it’s just sudoku, with the top region only being used right at the end. If you need more help just say but otherwise I hope you get more success solving the puzzle this time.

Yeah, I did it!! I thought it would have been harder, but it was good for me! I thought of min/max values like Mark did, but relied heavily on sudoku of all things! The hardest part for me was the brick in the upper left corner.

I finished in 32 minutes. I quite liked this ruleset, it's so creative and allows some cool mental math and geometry. I felt like I did it fast and yet, Mark beat me by 17 seconds. Still, matching Mark's time feels good. Great Puzzle!

Brilliant puzzle! Need just one tip: the 678 in the middle is in on brick! I did not think about that at all, so I was lost in the middle. After that it was ok! Thanks for the solve! 😆

What a great puzzle - and solve. I loved watching you work through this, Mark. I somehow expected the white dot to be disambiguating toward the end, but I did not notice its impact in that way during your solve; perhaps I just missed it. Thanks for featuring this puzzle. I will possibly put it on my list, because I like line puzzles.

the two in that box was the last step that I did: one can solve this by forgetting the white dot until the end (and then it disambiguates between the right solution and another otherwise valid one). Mark used it earlier than that to eliminate 2 from the middle column of box 7 (27:25), which later let him place the 2 in box 7 with only 3 "lookers" (34:00), which probably made the rest of the filling-in a bit more straightforward than if ignoring the white dot

14:10 solution no 30, interesting variant but the cells were very restricted by minimums for the most part, flowed really nicely and a nice easy break-in thanks to the 5 on a corner cell in block 5.

I struggled a bit with this, and made a mistake about two thirds of the way (in the northwestmost brick) through that caused some hunting to find. My end time was 34:52, solver number 1183.
