My favorite mod is that table. I am trying to figure out how to do something like that in the minivan Pascal is helping build out for Teresa.

Isn't it cool. He modified his van to perfectly fit his family's needs. If only.we could do that in so many other areas of our lives.

I.wish I had asked for Steve's contact info for people having questions. But he said a lot 9f Solis owners did this mid. My.guess is therr is a Facebook group or some other platform for Solis owners. I bet someone on one of those sites could provide.you answers to.your questions.

I think with the advent of social media, it's becoming more known about how our elderly are or are not being taken care of. I live in GA. My dad still lived in NY. He suffered a double stroke in 2017 and subsequent onset of Alzheimer's. I entrusted him to a very dear friend who also happened to be a certified nurse who specialized in elder Care / geriatrics and memory loss. I went up every school break (I work at an elementary school, so about every other month I'd go for either a Thursday Friday & wknd, then the extended breaks (spring, fall, winter). I called, emailed, snailmailed so many state federal, County offices, his pension fund, medical people, to try to figure out how I could simply move him down here with me. It was so much red tape, we would have had to start all over again with getting him the medical attention he needed, the emergency issues, transferring Medicaid/Medicare, etc. so it was best to have him stay there. He had been there since 1964. I had been in GA since 1994 when he fell ill. As his health and condition deteriorated and his caregiver was experiencing her own health issues, we researched and found what was touted to be one of the best extended health facilities for elder Care and Alzheimer's on the Island...so we thought. Within 2 weeks, he had caught pneumonia and he told us he'd been hit on his back. His caregiver kept making pop-up visits, and each time, she found him filthy, he was increasingly agitated, they were charging for rehabilitation to get him to walk again. He'd already lost control of his bodily functions as well as his movements. He was in the end stages of Alzheimer's. If it weren't for his roommate, Mr. Robinson, we would have never found out that he had fallen one evening, and was on the floor for 3 hours! I wrote letters to the omnibusman, two senators, the president of the facility, and I also sent a letter to the local news. He had been admitted in May. By mid June, we were able to revamp the lower level to her bi-level split to accommodate a medical bed, a recliner, and I utilized his tools to make him a portable ramp from plywood so we could wheel him outside for fresh air. I made an extended trip up there the week before July 4th and we had already planned for a transport van to come get him. I went to see him every day and miraculously he was as clean as a newborn baby. I'd pop in at 6:00 a.m. and I wouldn't leave until 10:00 p.m. I slowly cleared out his cubby & drawers of all his clothes. I'd sit with Mr. Robinson and smuggle in jello and Vienna sausages. The staff would not allow me to take him (dad) outside even into the courtyard...but Mr. Robinson could go outside. So the last day I visited, I gave Mr. Robinson a shave so he & my dad looked very similar. I rotated the beds so when they walked by, it looked like they were seeing dad. Then Mr Robinson kept a lookout while I maneuvered Dad into the wheelchair we had ordered. I put Mr. R's hat & one of his bright striped shirts on him and we headed toward the elevator! It was like breaking out of Alcatraz! The transport was at the rear parking lot and home we went!! I felt like the old Mission Impossible! My mission, which I chose to accept, was to get past the 'guard' unnoticed! I had gotten in the habit of signing in as Minnie Mouse or Daisy Duck. That day, I signed is as "Invisibilia Mulier" (Invisible Woman in Latin 🤣🤣) Because the doctor had not admitted him nor the state, he was still under our care. I had primary power of attorney and his caregiver had secondary POA. We were paying bi monthly. For one month, it was over $4k. He was on retirement disability so we were paying out of pocket. But once they found out he was gone, we got all types of bills! Pillows, doctors that he hadn't seen (a speech pathologist... really 🙄... Trust me, my father's vocabulary came back very strong! He'd give a drunken sailor competition 🤣), they charged us for CUPS, they charged us for the air conditioning unit that they kept putting him under that gave him pneumonia, they billed for "special diet" really?? Since when is tapioca pudding "special"? All kinds of stuff. I spent from late June to July 19th with dad. He asked me to describe the fireworks to him. It was one of the last things he was coherent about. He passed on August 4. I had a memorial service for him in New York, and then I had a final service for him back in Chattanooga and he was buried with my grandparents in TN. POA ceases upon death. Within one month, they charged us over $10k when he left. Ironic how that was NOWHERE in the paperwork until he left.🤔
