You're definitely right here and as a Bruins fan I was extremely confused by that whole goal and thought for sure when it was going to review that it was going to be called back, but it didn't because reffing is reffing I guess. The refs were terrible in overtime too. Skjei’s stick is blatantly slashed out of his hands and it breaks, while he has the puck. No call. Then Skjei reaches for the puck while behind Coyle who leans into Skjei and draws a “hold.” The Briuns score seconds after the power play expires. Rod is completely justified, the NHL needs to stop acting blind.

This is where it's confusing... the official said; "Carolina is challenging the play for a missed stoppage of play in the offensive zone." -If it's a hand pass where a Bruins' player bats the puck with his hand and Coyle touches it, that's a hand pass, and therefore a stoppage of play. -If Mrazek had control of the puck and "froze" it, the play is blown dead, and there's a stoppage of play. The official, after the review, said; "after the review, the goaltender had control AND possession of the puck. Thus nullifying the hand pass." So did Mrazek freeze it or not, this is legitimately a case of "Having your cake and eating it too", because they saw they missed a stoppage of play; ie Mrazek controlling and freezing the puck, but they didn't want to overturn it so they stand their ground and announced it as a hand pass.

@@marcusabuwasilahfernandes2110 what was 'glossed over'? I missed it. Shannon does a heck of a job entertaining me and thousands of others. He doesn't need to be called out by anybody, that's just being rude to get attention. There are plenty of others who are more demonstrative in their description of games, if that's what you're looking for. It's seems to me to be partly Shannon's personality to be laid back and easy going and not be jumping up and down yelling about things. If you like that, there's a guy named Steve Dangle who does a lot of that. Personally I like Shannon just the way that he is. Because he is calm and laid back, mostly, I can understand how it might seem like he just as you say, "glosses over" something. I think that is more his personality showing through than a lack of reporting. Shannon's a good person and cares more deeply than most about hockey and people. I think that's why he is always patrolling the comments, so that nobody feels like they don't belong. Give it a chance.... you might actually like what he does. Keep up the great coverage of all teams. There is not a single member of the media that does not have some level of bias. Watch ex NHL players talk about a match up they had with a team currently playing almost 30yrs ago, the fact that you are a fan of the NHL and have some favorite teams is still more professional then many of the "professionals"

I’m actually a fairly new hockey fan. I live at the beach in North Carolina and about 5 years ago my son asked to try hockey after a birthday party he went to at our rink. Not to brag, but now he’s the leading goal scorer for our travel teams :) I had never even seen a hockey game until he started. Now we are in love it with and in love with our Canes! Yeah that call and whole situation stunk, but I wanted to comment to say thank you for your videos. Being a new fan I have learned so so much from you, I often watch your videos just so I can talk to my son (he’s 12) about the game and sound smart haha. Thank you.

I was officiating a basketball game back in the 1990's. I was new at it. I saw a foul, but it took me a second to process it and I hesitated to blow the whistle. Because of the hesitation, I knew if I blew the whistle it would be a late call, something really frowned on. But I figured a late call on a foul is better than no call. I blew the whistle, took shit from the penalized team, and we all moved on. Everyone there knew it was the right call. If we're gonna have rules, then we ought to play within them.

I grew up a Boston fan. I own Bruins jerseys and am a Sox and Pats fan from birth. However, my wife is from Raleigh. So since moving down here, I've gone to more Canes games in a month than I've been to Bruins games in my whole life. The Canes have become my adopted team. That means this series is especially difficult for me, and I can say with absolute certainty, the Bruins are getting more calls go their way and more blind eyes turned in their direction. It's actually frustrating to watch. So let me say: we all appreciate your fair and unbiased love of hockey. Keep it up!

As a newer fan (vegas) this relates to one of the most frustrating parts of watching hockey for me, and that is when a replay clearly shows that the call on the ice is wrong, but nothing can be done. They say “oh it would slow down the game too much to review everything.” Is it not worse to make the wrong call? Take advantage of technology. Have officials watching cameras who can make calls, or at least correct wrong calls. Anything. We should no longer be limited by what a ref happens to miss.

One of my favorite sayings is "you can please all of the people some of the time, and you can please some of the people all of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time." When it comes to sports, this is especially true, since people get so emotionally invested in their teams. I really enjoy your breakdowns and don't find them biased at all; in fact, I'd rather watch your recap than a big TV station's, it feels way more even. I know it would take too long, but there are several times I've seen where the coach could have challenged nearly everything about said play, but they have to pick one, so they take a risk. You shouldn't have to pick. It should be "I'm challenging the play and focus on this time block(s)." Give em, idk, up to 10 seconds of footage, be it continuous or in shorter clips, to be reviewed. If anything was missed, they can see it there and make their decision.

I’m one of the guys who loves watching your reviews of Vancouver, Boston, and Dallas games BECAUSE you’re a fan of those teams. As pro-CBJ and Nashville, I sometimes don’t wanna look beyond my own nose, so watching your opinions and notes on those games often give me perspectives that I otherwise might not have seen before. That being said, I wish there was more clarity on plays and reviews... “After reviewing the play...” should indicate that you looked at the whole of the play, otherwise just say “After reviewing the CALL...”

If anything I know you have multiple teams you cheer for, and I dig hearing your feelings as a fan about certain trades or how things are being handled. But you certainly don't come off as say a homer in how you talk about the game. I'd say the very small minority would fall into that camp, and are likely just looking for stuff to complain about. That's the 3rd time just today I've seen the goalie have the puck covered and there was no whistle. The Ref behind the net and the whistle in his pocket worried only about seeing the puck cross the goal line and absolutely no regard for the goalie having the puck covered. DISGRACEFUL.

As for the whole "bias" thing: Honestly, I think even if noone knew what teams you cheer for people would make assumptions, just as they accuse you of hating every single team in the league. You wont make everyone happy, someone will always complain. The majority of people know your coverage is as fair as it gets. For me this is the best hockey channel.

The thing is the refs never made a call on the play regarding a hand pass nor a specific judgement on goalie interference. Therefore when Brindamour asked what's the call on the play? The ref said , well, the call was "goal"... nothing more... The refs can't do Brindamours job for him, but the right thing to do for Brindamour was challenge Goalie interference, I believe. Brindamour rolled the dice, and chose to challenge hand pass. It was quite blatant that it was never going to be a hand pass call by refs as Mrazek touched it first. So Brindamour should've leaned towards challenging Goalie interference instead. Mistake by him. Whoops. What I don't get is... when they said Mrazek had "posession", but ... not "control"... I disagree there, and it should've been frozen on the cover.
@Shatamx
@Shatamx 3 жыл бұрын
How is that goalie interference? You can jar a puck loose from a goalie if the whistle isn't blown man. Those weren't even slashes. NESN has a great angle on the play. #10 and 21 of Boston are clearly going for the puck on the ice. Which according to rule 6.1.1 those arn't slashes. Good goal. As for the whistle. We yelled at the Refs for the whistle being blown to fast the past 10+ years. Now you want them to do it again? I don't get it...

I don't sense any partiality or bias in your game reviews; and your being a fan of Boston doesn't discredit your ability to objectively analyze the games - at least not from what I've seen. This can't be an easy job to do, and the fact that you do it just because you love doing it and love providing us with some content between games, relatively thanklessly, speaks volumes about you as a person and as a fan of this amazing game we all love. Take those who say otherwise with a grain of salt. Thank you, sincerely.
