On this livestream we discuss two British watchmaking icons: Christopher Ward and Bremont. For Christopher Ward we discuss the new titanium skeleton watch, The Twelve X, and it's almost $5,000 price-point propelling the model against more famous brands like Tudor. As for Bremont, a seemingly totally new direction has happened with drastic changes that seem to suggest the old way of doing business is dead, but is Bremont itself able to survive by shifting generic? We'll talk about it!

Bremont has gone crazy. Ugly designs, not very cheap. They lost their individuality. In the past they had some nice designs, but overpriced. What they should do is lower the past prices and sell more of their old designs. Ditch the new ones altogether, lol. DC must be a mole, to go in and destroy bremont, on behalf of the competition. Also what about the English brothers? No word from them at all!!!

Christopher Ward has been killing it lately. They’re on my radar now whereas I wouldn’t have considered them before. But at this price point I’d rather spend a bit more and get an Omega.

What skeletonized Omega watch can you buy for £4,120.00? Any skeletonized Omega will cost tens of thousands. In fact what omega can you buy for a little bit more, you can buy a new Aqua Terra for £5,500, Speedmasters for £7,300, and both Railmaster and Seamaster for at least £1,000 more. That's not a little bit. Sorry if I seem grumpy; I blame Swatch for destroying Omega pricing.

@@grahamjones4720 I wasn't thinking in terms of skeletonized watches since they don't interest me all that much. I was more thinking about what kind of watch I could buy if I put a bit more money into it. I wouldn't buy an Omega new though, their prices drop quite a bit if they're used.

I just don't see how they can endure as "generic but branded London". Perhaps they will pivot (again).

@@WatcheswithDennis Well, I totally agree with your comments. CW of course, source all of their models from Switzerland. Like you, skeletonized designs do nothing for me. Looking at the normal Twelve though, the pricing seems fair. Bremont does manufacture their watches in the UK, but to me at least, they have always been over-priced, while their designs have no appeal. Other than that, we do have Garrick in London making traditional and very expensive watches by hand, and of course Rodger Smith But then we are talking about many thousands of Pounds.

We have a lot of opinions in common. I, too, dislike skeletonized dials and sterile dials like Moser’s.

Moser including indices I tend to really like. I find most of their dials impressive. But when it's *all* dial... ugh, no thanks. I do want to somewhat be able to tell the time. I'm a simple person of simple time-telling needs!

@@WatcheswithDennisAgreed. I actually use my watches to tell time, so legibility is critical. Also, I agree with your take on Bremont. I don’t expect them to be around much longer.

I don’t own a Christopher Ward…..but give me another sub-$5K watch that exhibits the workmanship that this new CW displays? I am not a skeleton watch guy either….but on a value basis, CW is hard to compete with.

Indeed, I think it may be the best value skeleton out there. But the brand does nothing for me.

I have a CW watch and yes for $1k it is a well made watch. But it is very bland and uninteresting. Never wear it and won’t buy another
