Being the President is no easy job in itself, but Roosevelt presided over the nation through the Depression and the war. He looks very worn down and tired, especially stark when compared to during his first presidential bid in 1932.

My grandfather was 6 or 7. He remembered his parents exclaiming with joy that FDR won during Thanksgiving dinner, which lead to his grandmother saying "President Roosevelt will end this war. Just like Wilson did but with a lasting peace."

The United States presidential election of 1944 took place during World War II. The incumbent President Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Democrat, sought a fourth term in office. His Republican opponent was Thomas E. Dewey, the Governor of New York. The election occurred against the backdrop of ongoing war efforts, and President Roosevelt's leadership during the conflict played a significant role in the campaign. Roosevelt was highly popular, and the American people generally supported his handling of the war. Roosevelt's running mate was Harry S. Truman, who would later become President following Roosevelt's death in 1945. Dewey, on the other hand, faced challenges in gaining widespread support due to Roosevelt's popularity and the perception that a change in leadership during wartime might be risky. In the end, Franklin D. Roosevelt won a decisive victory in the electoral college, securing 432 electoral votes to Dewey's 99. The popular vote was also in Roosevelt's favor, with 53.4% of the vote compared to Dewey's 45.9%. This marked Roosevelt's fourth consecutive presidential election victory. The 1944 election is notable for being the only U.S. presidential election in which a president was elected to a fourth term. It led to discussions and later the passage of the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution in 1951, which limited presidents to two terms in office.

It’s good that presidents don’t get more than 2 terms. Servicing for a decade is lots and lots of stress, same with a war that the president is dealing with, for me, FDR is the second greatest president in history behind Abraham Lincoln
