I’ve never rewatched a trailer as much as I did this. I don’t know how I will sing and cry and eat popcorn at the same time, but I’m going to somehow manage it for this movie

Gah! The music to this film and Ben Platt's voice can make a grown man cry. Talk about emotive skills!! Relatable themes. Love how you touched on that "Be yourself!" vs "Be yourself?" aspect of the trailer as that also spoke volume without having to even hear the characters say it. A lesson in how a punctuation mark changes a meaning so subtlety.

Absolutely! Starting the trailer off with that bit of attention to grammatical detail set us up for the details that we can now look for throughout. Gave me a sense of calm for sure. And then yeah... just over the edge of the waterfalls. haha -Colt p.s. Not sure if that was a "Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs" reference, but if so well done. If not, go watch that brilliant gem of a movie.

I had a family member as well as two friends end their lives and I hate when people say suicide is selfish. People have no idea what others are struggling with every day. It is always said the happiest ones on the outside are really the saddest ones. You never really know someone's struggles no matter how close you are. Everyone is always going thru something.

Wow I absolutely love both of your reactions!! And it's so incredible to hear your experiences in high school. You both seem so confident and put-together that I wouldn't ever guess that you would be able to relate to DEH in this way. I'm 17 and had terrible social anxiety for much of high school, which is why DEH is so powerful to me and speaks to me so much. Thanks again for this video!!!

I watched the movie yesterday. I didn't care for all the critics I read, because I already knew the story and the music. I enjoyed every second of it. Ben Platt is incredible and I really wanted to see him performing Evan. I loved it!!!

Watched a few other reactions to this trailer and stumbled upon yours. Having majored in Theater in college and worked at the Guthrie Theater for the last 27 years (not on stage; in the Box Office), it is so refreshing to hear an opinion from folks who have their theatrical feces collected and key in to what's important. This is why we do whatever we do. I will be there on the 24th of September and if you two happen to be sitting behind me in the theater, I'll have extra tissues handy. ♥

I loved to see your reaction and how well you got it and related. I can’t wait to see your reaction to the whole thing. People see themselves in a variety of characters and it seems to touch us all. It destroyed me from the parental perspective.

I can only imagine watching this movie as a parent. Especially if you're child is anywhere near this age range or has already passed it. I think you're right, t's gonna be moving for a lot of people in a ton of ways. -Colt

This is the 1st video I watched by you guys and I want to say you are a beautiful couple and I am so happy you found each other. I can say that this trailer had me tearing up as I was a closeted gay man in high school in the 90's. I had friends that were gay as well but didn't come out to even them during that time because of the times we were living in and saw the treatment they were going thru. I haven't been fortunate enough to see this show but I'm looking forward to the movie because I think it shines a light on how most people feel completely alone and isolated we feel in high school regardless of what you're stature was at that time. Definitely worth subscribing to your channel. 😁

First off, thank you so much for the love and for joining the community. Second, thank you for the honesty in that comment. I couldn't agree more, and I know I speak for both of us when I say that. The whole experience of being a teenager and trying to figure yourself out, especially if you don't fit whatever mold you feel you're supposed to fit in to, it can be incredibly hard. We'll definitely be diving deeper into some of our experiences with that in the future on the channel, and how it ended up shaping and defining us later on. This movie is coming out at the time many of the younger people need. It has been a hard year for all of us. Tickets to Broadway shows and the touring shows can be expensive and this movie is a great way for many people to see it. I loved the show when I saw it and I am looking forward to the movie.

I love your reaction to this trailer. I knew nothing about the play until I saw the trailer for this and I will be in the theater on opening day to see this. I noticed you like to react to things involving love. Another movie trailer just came out a few days ago that you might be interested in. It’s a Marvel movie, which you wouldn’t expect to involve love, but the trailer is beautiful, almost a work of art, and includes a love story that spans thousands of years. The Eternals

First off, you're 💯% right that LOVE is the thing that connects everything we do here. B.) I am a big marvel fan (technically big comics fan) [like have multiple copies of the death of superman (one still in the celophane) and also the some of the original iron man and captain america comics framed] and I am STOKED about The Eternals. Funny you should ask.... that reaction is going up tomorrow! It's one of my favorite Broadway shows. Like, I saw it 6 times. From Andy's choreo to the those first few beats... I was sold hard. Hello I am new to your channel and I saw this I’m in big fan of dear Evan Hansen every time I watch the trailer I just listen to the music it has to be hard because I’m going through the same thing. I have lost all my confidence and my self and it sucks because I actually want to do something in the music industry but I have stage fright and I have no confidence I don’t believe in myself I feel useless and a disappointment I got bullied so much I dropped out of school because I couldn’t handle it anymore

It's not an easy thing to face those fears but on the other side I promise you it's worth it. If nobody has ever cheered you on then consider this your cheering section. Go do what you wanna do. Whatever is burning a hole inside you trying to get out into the world. Go do that thing you want to share, and don't worry about the people that tell you not to do that. If this looks good to you, you might want to review his movie Broken Diamonds. It examines sibling relationships and also allows the public to see Ben Platt act in genre where he plays the leading man. Interestingly, this movie can’t be considered a romantic comedy or a tragedy. Instead it gives the public a drama which offers genuine performances of a family coping with death and mental illness that are authentic. Broken Diamonds opens in theatres on July 23rd.
