A yard shunter for the Vliegenvangers & Malta Railway, bought at a brocante as a 'non-runner', repaired with Hornby Dublo brushes and guesswork.

It looks like a push me pull you. Great work repairing the motor with a set of other brushes. 😁👍

I need to spend some time and work out what it is, certainly a yard shunter. You would have coped with the motor, very basic thing, but guessing the length for the brushes and then doing some trial and error was a bit of a fiddle.

Very nice little item. Very satisfying to repair such a thing.

It was 'intellectually' simply but mechanically fiddly, small parts attacked by big fingers, but I got there. Yes, very satisfying.

Maybe a little track cleaning is in order?

And some adjustment to alignment.

That's a Lima HO diesel. I did a Google Lens on my phone of your loco on my tablet and the result was Lima.

Yes, I dug that up too, although it seems to be in effect a 'fake'. The model was originally of an electric loco, a German one with a pantograph, I can find no record of them being used by SNCF, I suspect they made these for the toy train set market. It was fun getting it to work.

You bought model train bits off the internet? Yep.. the world is going to hell in a hand basket. I don't know what to believe now.

Without the help of a 14 year old! It is easier to learn how to program a Babbage computer than to explain to a 14 year old what carbon brushes are.
