Goodman had a bad batch of R22 evaporator coils around 2007-2008. Trane and Carrier techs bash Goodman as cheap junk. We primarily offer Goodman for replacement installs. Warranty calls are far less than other brands we get called to repair that we didn’t install. Every service truck carries their standard replacement parts like caps, contactors and condenser fan motors. The heat pumps do have a proprioritary defrost board as do the communicating models, but that is normal. Trane, Carrier and Lennox use propriety parts and are usually a two day wait to get. Our Goodmans keep costs down for the customer and repair invoices low.

Requiring registration to get full warranty should be illegal. It should just start at manufacturing date instead of installed date if not registered.

It isn't, it's scare tactics by the manufacturers, and they know it but still use it!. The job ended up under warranty so the manufacturer abided by the law.

@@jameslong3351 it is 5 years normally, 10 years if registered. contractor misses registration, owner gets shafted. should just be 10 years flat from manufacturing date or if registered, install date.

In FL, DeSantis just now made it illegal. Mandatory warranty regardless of registration.

I have never seen a Carrier coil with a pre installed txv, I am shocked. I do these quite often

I've got a Bryant 4 ton aluminum evaporator coil from 1978, sitting right above an electric resistance heating coil. Still no leaks! The entire interior unit is original except for the fan motor which I only changed because the bearings were noisy from wear. I got in a new Chinese ball bearing 240 volt, 4 speed motor for $100. I only used the 2 lowest speeds. A new capacitor too.

The fins may be aluminum, but the pipes in the coil were copper up until about 10 years or so ago

@@Straight_White_Fatherly_Figure Actually some of the real earlier carriers were aluminum coils. All the way to the tubes. They didn't have the best transition from copper to aluminum. I believe it was a flare fitting and on the ones I replaced often times that change over from copper to aluminum was the source of the leak. The rest of the coil was still fine.

@Sightthrough yeah i see that a lot with Frigidaire package units and their condensing coils. Attempted to fix one when I was new.. what a mess
