Jimin demonstrate with this era once again why he is the "recruiting fairy" of BTS 😂 his intro went viral and many people became fans during this era 💜💜💜 still one of my favorites 😊

the mv is tied to the theme of the temptation, as you've read ("the temptation" is written behind the boys at 3:39), but that's not all the meaning, it's not just the metaphorical story about how we always want bad things. the MV and the whole concept of Wings album and its short films, in another words the whole era is based on symbolism connected to the Herman Hesse's book Demian, where the main character (MC) explores his psyche while growing up (spoken lines in this MV and short films are quotes from the book). Theme goes along with coexistence of 'dark' and 'light' in our lives. MC was taught to see only the good side of the world, which is wrong, because the world isn't perfect and has bad side too. One can't live fully embracing just the good. You should accept both. The quote from the book that i really like is MC's thoughts: 'Why are only pleasant things attributed to the God if he created the whole universe? Are not both the light and dark sacred?'. The visuals of mv follow this theme: boys grew up and now facing new temptations to overcome or succumb to it thus they are acting defiantly, as if trying to seduce the viewer. There's a lot of pieces in the MV that are full of symbolism: every picture, statue, sound, object • an apple which means sin both in the religion and the book. Jimin is connected to an apple specifically, but they also all have an apple on their plate in the last supper scene (5:23) • green color also plays the role of a bad things like a devil's blood or a poisonous absinthe reputed to be a hallucinogen and banned in some countries. Namjoon is connected to the absinthe, his lines are "But your wings are wings of the devil. In front of your Sweet is bitter bitter" (4:34). behind the sweetness of the drink (absinthe is often drunk with sugar) lies its real essence of bitterness. it symbolises succumbing to temptation and denying the real world in favor of an illusion. we also see green smoke around Yoongi (4:22) and in the room where both Namjoon and Jungkook are (5:52) • a blindfold that keeps one from seeing the worlds as it is - then when blindfold is gone you see green tears (8:33) • Black and white doors on the sides of the “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” picture (3:33) that can be representing the inner fight of good and evil. “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” itself depicts the fall into hell of angels who rebelled against God, they turn into ugly monsters and good angels give them battle. In fact, this is the main idea of the struggle between good and evil, the choice of your side in this battle. there were also sculptures of an angel and a demon on the sides of background in the set for the choreo (3:55) • behind Jungkook's back is a painting of Icarus (4:01). I think everyone is familiar with Greek mythology and is aware that Icarus was presented with wings, but he could not resist the temptation and flew too close to the sun, causing the wax in his wings to melt so he fell. The story echoes the ideas of the song and the title of the album itself: "WINGS". Behind Tae when he jumps from the balcony is "The Fall of Icarus" too (6:10) • a kiss of a fallen angel as an acceptance of a darker side and resolution of the inner chaos. Above the mirror in the MV there's a Nietzsche quote 8:37 (who also has a lot to do with the book's ideology): 'You must have a chaos inside you to give birth to a dancing star'. It's a reference to Nietzsche's ideas about a superman - a creature who, in his power many times surpasses an ordinary person, denies fear and regret, and uncompromisingly follows the chosen path, being the creator of his own destiny. The superman is described in his book "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" and the ideas from there closely connect with "Demian" MC in the book has a few mentors, with help of who he learns life - and you can see that in the beginning of the MV every younger member is paired up with older one. Younger members have symbols of youth and innocence with them: a slingshot, a lollipop, a bicycle Jin is an observer just like the MC in the book. He has yet another symbol of innocence, a ballon (6:54), which he lets go. He is also the one whose face is covered with hands, which is similar to the way Yoongi covers Jimin's eyes to not let him see the dark world. however, Jin's face is being slowly uncovered as the mv progresses (6:51). he is in transition to adulthood You also can notice that the rest of the boys are divided into 'good' and 'bad': • Namjoon drinking absinthe (4:37) and subverting yet innocent Jungkook into it (4:58 the green drop that Jungkook licks off his finger 5:08, this narrative also developed more in the japanese mv) • Jimin having an issue with temptation (holding apple 6:05) and Yoongi trying to save him from it (closing his eyes with a hand 3:46 or a blindfold 6:41) • Tae being the fallen angel himself with his cut off wings (8:17) and Hoseok representing hope and shooting a colourful arrow to him (5:36). I think Hoseok's theme is more prominent in the Japanese version of the mv (it's COMPLETELY different, but be careful, Japanese releases can get blocked). J-hope also has the statue of Pieta (4:44), that has the meanings of piety, compassion, that breaks apart in the end after the characters meet with the dark side (8:41) also, Yoongi playing organ is a direct reference to the one of MC's mentors (7:13) I would say that especially from Jimin-Yoongi pairing in this mv you can tell that there's no answer what is right: good or evil. The apple is the sin, but the sin is the part of the world. Neglecting it and being blindfolded prevents you not only from "bad" things but from living a life and being yourself: the blindfold holds Jimin to a closed door and doesn't let him go (6:52) the Nietzsche quote also give a hint that hiding from bad may actually be worse then the bad itself, because without accepting all sides of self one can't reach their full potential. and BTS has a whole another era talking about exploring one's self So the story is about exploring the world in its good and bad in order to explore your own self and become something greater

BTS often hides deeper meanings behind catchy, seemingly lighter tunes. In fact, I would say they do it more often than not. It's part of why I love them - that nothing is surface level, and that you can get this huge, meaningful message/inspiration/thought-provoking idea, all while singing/dancing/rocking your heart out. It's one of their best qualities (on a long list of best qualities).

They built every set for this MV and there wasn't a cut when it went between rooms, they build one on top of the other. I adore everything Lumpens does with all their MVs.

It's the most detailed explanation, referring to everything including excerpts from novel by Hermann Hesse 'Demian', translations & quotes from Neitzsche which is on the wall. As well as explaining Art works & scultures. Just so many details one might overlook otherwise It's basically about youth/adolescence, turning into adulthood, with new feelings, sensations, & temptations, and the choices & paths one chooses! Even the choreography reflects on the meanings of the song, which I recommend watching dance practice for also live performance of. 👍❤‍🔥😍🔥🔥

Jimin is the king of killing parts

Nothing is more quintessentially BTS than taking a serious subject and hiding it behind happy/peppy/bouncy sounds, bright youthful playful styles of clothing, cheeky or flirty acting, or some combination of it. The darker or deeper or more political the song, the more deceptively happy it sounds. It's wild to sometimes hear a really happy sounding BTS song without seeing any lyrics or seeing any MVs but then you read the lyrics and it's a massive gut punch. I remember there were some songs I'd be throwing my back out dancing to only to find out about the socio-political messages or topics of dire class issues. At some times I think this tactic has definitely created a veil of safety for BTS because people often brush it off as just another simple kpop track that isn't saying much meanwhile it's dragging the government and society.

If you’re not a native Korean speaker (like myself) sometimes their subtext gets lost in the translation. But what other people have said here is true. Namjoon (RM) particularly uses word play/double meaning in his lyrics. In order to better understand what they were trying to say, I recommend watching BTS’s first speech at the United Nations. Namjoon (RM) talks about embracing ALL the parts of yourself, even the ones you may find “ugly.” This was a big part of their “Love Yourself” Tour. I’m in my 60’s and found BTS later in life. I like their messages of positivity and embracing ALL parts of ourselves! I also like that they’re MORE than just a “boy band” that I would have pursued in my teenage years. They also remain humble while trying to be altruistic and encourage Army to do the same. There is a reason their name translates to “Bulletproof Boy Scouts” Although they may still be young, they’ve been through ALOT and understand about struggles. May I suggest watching “The Story Of BTS” to better understand how/why their lyrics and songs are so amazing! Borahae!

Excellent reaction, the phrase in English narrated in the video by RM is part of the novel Demian by Hermaann Hesse, the central message of the novel is the growth that discovers different panoramas of life and how it matures as it experiences different circumstances, In fact, most of the BTS songs use this novel as inspiration, the history of the BTS universe is quite complex, which are a series of videos that are connected.

это пояснение к клипу .. кровь,пот и слёзы. «Здесь очень много символизма.. постараюсь немного объяснить для новичков или тех, кто не интересовался: вдохновением для альбома, в котором релизнули эту песню, стала книга Германа Гессе - Демиан. Вкратце "Демиан"- это история взросления главного героя, будучи ребенком он рассуждает о том, что существует два мира: светлый и темный, темный мир манит его. Как мне кажется, в этом и был основной лейтмотив альбома: парни перестали быть невинными детьми, пришла пора взрослеть, совершать ошибки, преодолевать искушения или поддаваться им. Поэтому они ведут себя подчеркнуто вызывающе, будто пытаются соблазнить. Думаю, по клипу заметно, что участники делятся на плохих и хороших. Джин играет роль наблюдателя, как и Эмиль Синклер главный герой "Демиана", ну а остальные раскрывают себя по мере просмотра. Пробегусь по некоторым отсылкам в клипе: В начале Джин смотрит на картину - это "Падение мятежных ангелов" Брейгеля. Она изображает падение в ад ангелов, восставших против Бога, они превращаются в уродливых монстров, а добрые ангелы дают им бой. По сути это отображение центральной идеи борьба между добром и злом, выбор своей стороны в этом сражении. В первой же танцевальной формации, где Чимин поднимает голову, по бокам от ребят в дверных проходах (эти же проходы есть и на кадре с картиной, только без скульптур) видны две скульптуры - слева демон, справа ангел, что предполагает, что выбирая свой путь ты либо свернешь налево и поддашься желанию согрешить, либо пойдешь направо, устояв против него. Качели, на которых качается Чонгук, как бы символизируют его желание вернуться назад в беззаботное детство, где все было просто и понятно. Но однажды познав темный мир, ты уже никогда не сможешь вернуться назад, светлый. Еще один интересный момент- за спиной у Чонгука картина, на которой изображен Икар. Я думаю, все знакомы с греческой мифологией и в курсе, что Икару подарили крылья, но он не справился с искушением и подлетел слишком близко к солнцу, отчего воск в его крыльях растаял, и он упал. История перекликается с идеями песни, ну и конечно же с названием самого альбома - WINGS. Намджун пьет абсент-напиток, имеющий репутацию галлюциногена, и запрещенный в некоторых странах. Здесь, я думаю, он символизирует то, что Намджун поддается искушению и отрицает реальный мир в пользу иллюзии. Его строчки в песне "But your wings are wings of the devi In front of your Sweet is bitter bitter". Да, он получил крылья, но это крылья дьявола, а за сладостью напитка (абсент часто пьют с сахаром) кроется его реальная суть горечь. Когда участники сидят за столом перед каждым из них стоит кубок, а в тарелке лежит яблоко-и то и другое является символом соблазна (к примеру, в Библии Ева срывает яблоко с Древа Познания, они с Адамом пробуют его, и за это их изгоняют из Рая). Далее по сюжету Чимин появляется в одной комнате с Юнги, в руках он держит все то же яблоко, а у Юнги есть повязка, которой он закрывает глаза Чимина-намек на то, что Чимин пока еще не сдался, он не попробовал яблоко, а Юнги пытается его к этому подтолкнуть, закрыв его глаза на тот факт, что он совершает зло, что грешить Плохо. Когда Ви прыгает с балкона-за ним видна картина, и это снова отсылка к Икару. Автор картины тоже Брейгель, она называется "Падение Икара". Тут прослеживается тесная связь между Ви и Икаром- они оба поддались искушению. Но перед тем, как спрыгнуть вниз, Ви улыбается - это дает нам понять, что он олицетворяет собой зло, падшего ангела, которого уже не волнует глубина его падения, он принял его. В сцене с шариком Намджун цитирует строки из "Демиана". По сюжету клипа понятно, что со временем каждый участник поддается искушению, переходит, так сказать на темную сторону, но начинает осознавать, что Что-то пошло не так, хочет вернуться назад... примерно об этом в цитате и говорится. Самая символичная сцена- Джин целует статую с крыльями. Это, конечно же, Ви. Ангел, который поддался соблазну и утратил свои крылья. Целуя его, Джин тоже выбирает свой путь- путь зла, темный мир. После Джин подходит к стене, на которой выгравирована цитата Ницше "Кто не носит в себе хаос, тот не родит танцующей звезды". Отсылка к идеям Ницше о сверхчеловеке- существе, которое своим могуществом многократно превосходит обычного человека, отрицает страх и сожаления, и бескомпромиссно следует выбранному пути, являясь творцом собственной судьбы. Сверхчеловек описывается в его книге "Так говорил Заратустра" и идеи оттуда плотно перекликаются с "Демианом". Когда отражение Джина в зеркале трескается - это символизирует его жертву. Поцелуем с дьяволом обычно скрепляют контракт, возможно, он о чем-то попросил Ви, получил желаемое, а взамен пожертвовал собой, своей невинностью, чистой душой. Все это, конечно, просто теории и догадки, в клипе есть еще много чего, и интерпретировать это можно по разному. За это и люблю БТС- бесконечный простор для фантазий и размышлений!

14:30 I think it’s about “balance”. Tempering a serious and/or sad/depressing subject with upbeat music so it’s easier to digest instead of overwhelming you.

Which took place in early to mid-December 2023 in the last week or so they all graduated from basic training boot camp! In the process they've all won awards for achievements in basic training like Joan cooks award for the best trainee! RM enlisted as a regular military recruit! German and John cook enlisted as regular military recruits on the buddy system so they were training together will serve together! V is the only BTS member to have passed test and qualified to enlist in special forces capital defense unit! It is a special defense unit test with protecting the capital Seoul South Korea from North Korean invasion since the capital of South Korea is very close to the border of North Korea!
