Thanks for the great video Wade ! I started using the cardboard overshot cards over the powder a while ago, upon the recommendation of BP. As A CA resident we are prohibited from using lead shot for hunting, so that's definitely a game-changer. But I still load lead buckshot for security (social work) and that is a somewhat different scenario, as making shells shorter can increase tubular magazine capacity, and a card over the powder makes the OAL slightly longer... Which adds up in the magazine. Solution *:* I hope - X12X with a 1/4" cork over it and teflon wrap - But it's *less expensive* to cut a shotcup off a wad and use that. This weekend I'll find out if there's any improvement with that compared to a CB1138 using my hard cast .31 pellets and Longshot.

Fantastic .I would use the seal for over bored steel proof barrels .They have the double fins to seal

The card wad works great but it will make your shot sit higher you can also use a 1inch square piece of wax paper instead of the card wad it also stops powder migration. Great video Sir.

Winchester grey, white, pink and red wads in a straight wall hull pretty much guarantees powder migration. Doesn't affect performance though.

I like those Precision wads better than the BPI TPS wads, same to similar wads, but find the PR wads to be thicker and slightly shorter, which don't require trimming, and pattern better with steel and buck

I just use a dryer sheet and wipe all the hulls and wads. I sheet lasts for 100's of rounds.

So you can use a tapered wad in a straight hole or at least you guys will ime in the uk

I think I can do the same thing with the plastic bingo chips I've been using as overshot cards to ensure my crimps are tight if there's a tiny bit of gap in my column. I'll have to try the waxed paper suggested by @Arsenio Arvanitakis as well, that's even easier than this. I'd just order the right wads, but I'm tired of paying as much for shipping as for the wads, didn't know I needed different wads when I ordered 200 Fiocchi primed hulls, and need to load today for a shoot tomorrow... Edit: Following up, the bingo chips sort of worked -- they're still undersize, so they're hard to get in straight, but they're close enough that once in, they (I think) expand the gas seal of the CB0178-12 wad I was using to keep the powder where it belongs. I loaded 50, I'll be shooting them tomorrow at a skeet range. I still need to try the wax paper, though. On firing, unfortunately, it seems the bingo chip with tapered-hull wad doesn't seal. Now I've got 47 shells I need to break down to try to save the components...

Just getting into reloading buckshot in New Zealand ,have noticed that the recovered wads are chewed up and wondered if the overshot wad used over the powder will help keep the pattern tighter by protecting the wad somewhat. Enjoy your videos.

Can I use a 3/4 inch hollow punch for over shot cards? I have the orange juice cartons with the wax on the inside, will that work?

I solved the problem of powder leakage. I don't use clear shotshells. If I can't see it, it isn't there, LOL.

I just take my wad and push it against a big steelie i have. Flares it out just a few thousandths of an inch. Pressure "might" rise a bit but not too concerned since published data i use is way below max.

Have you tested the loads with and without the overshot card to see how much the pressure changes? I'd be interested to know how much it impacts the psi, so I don't create something unsafe. Any knowledge or advice would be appreciated.

Can I put that overshot card into any 12 gauge reload? Is there any specs on pressure when adding the overshot card? Makes me a little nervous to add this overshot card if I am loading a shell that’s at its max according to reloading manual. Can you advise or point me in the direction to my concerns? I do like the idea of using the overshot card. Thank you for your time.

Just started reloading 12ga. I'm having this issue with my fiocchi hulls after inserting the wad. 12GW 1 1/8 oz wad, WST powder 20.5gr , #8 shot. Only rides up the side when inserting the wad, but not after it's crimped. I'm worried if I put a card in that it messes with the pressure. Is there a concern safety wise with the powder on the side or if i add the card?

Yeah that is pretty and also now about 1000 pounds higher in pressure when fired. You shouldn’t be showing this on KZfaq without having your “fixes” pressure tested. What primer are you using? With a Fed209A you’re going to be way hot in that load at 28ish grains of Longshot. Also those wads are not interchangeable. TPS wads tend to produce higher pressures. You really need to send your loads to precision reloading for pressure testing. You can fix the Benelli feed problem with roll crimps. Mine feed just fine in both M2 and SBE 2 so not sure what’s going on with your shell.

That looks like it would keep the cup on the back side of the wad from spreading and sealing the pressure in the barrel

I found that a 3/4 hole punch works well. I use a lot of package boxes. Always looking for something new. I use them as over powder and over shot cards. And I roll crimp everything. 🫥
