Hey, I'm Bubble Tea Kristin! In today's video I will show you how to make Hand Made Boba Pearls at Home from Scratch! It is actually very easy, and only requires a few ingredients: Tapioca Starch, Brown Sugar or White Sugar, and Water. That's it!
The Cooking Method I cover in this video is for the delicious trendy 'Brown Sugar Syrup' or Tiger Look: super sweet boba!
But if you'd like a simple cooking recipe, with no added sugar in the process, I'd recommend:
Boiling for 20-minutes - Sitting for 10-minutes - Rinsing - and then simply adding to your drink.
1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar (Or white sugar)
2 Tablespoons Water
6 Tablespoons Tapioca Starch (*Small/Flat/Light Tablespoons about 7 grams)
(You can always add more Tapioca Starch after cooking... better to add less than more)
The reason I've chosen the "Tablespoons Method" over weight for today's video, is many people at home do not have a scale for grams. I wanted this recipe to be as easy as possible for everyone! 😁
If you're making super tiny boba pearls by hand, I recommend a shorter cooking time - about half the time of whichever cooking recipe you choose. (Video version of Description version)

Hi Kristen, I like the sweetness of the boba pearls but they are still a bit hard and chewy in the middle. How can I make them softer all the way through without being too mushy?

Hey Rob! Yes, unfortunately there might be a tapioca shortage in general, so in the future I'll have to find and try out some recipes using alternative ingredients for all of my subscribers too 🤣🤣🤣 But definitely try some substitutes. I think this recipe is so versatile and once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to throw all sorts of different stuff in there 😍🤩

Hello! I might have missed this in your video but I just got done making a batch and wanted to know how long I can store in the freezer verses the refrigerator? Or do you only recommend storing them in the freezer? If so, does it take more time to cook them from frozen or should I still follow the same method shown here? Great video btw!
@BubbleTeaKristin

Hello 👋🏼 I have a few different tapioca pearls cooking videos but the info is the same. Uncooked Boba: Freezer lasts a few months easily. As long as it doesn't get freezer burn. Fridge is risky. too much moisture in there IMO. I usually do freezer. Should take the same amount of time to cook them. If you're unsure... leave them a little longer after cooking in the pot with the fire off. Hope that helps! :)
@motherhen3
@motherhen3 3 жыл бұрын
How long do you think we should be able to keep them in the freezer?
@BubbleTeaKristin
@BubbleTeaKristin 3 жыл бұрын
I've kept them there for a few weeks no problem... 🤷🏼‍♀️ I haven't tried keeping them longer because I always find the need to cook them up 🤣 But definitely make sure they've been coated in the tapioca starch really well and sifted before you store them. And definitely make sure it is an airtight container. Believe me, no one wants to take a giant clump of boba balls and try to cook them 🤣🤣🤣

@@BubbleTeaKristin I used a brand I found online called Anthony's organic tapioca flour starch tapioca. Also is it better to make your own pearls or buy them made when running a business?
@BubbleTeaKristin
@BubbleTeaKristin 2 жыл бұрын
@@ericavelar2493 oh cool! I've never heard of organic for tapioca before... Maybe there's a small village somewhere growing it 🤷🏼‍♀️ Hm... Perhaps the step where you're adding the tapioca is the issue. Do half the amount and only slowly add more. It will be sticky, but only add a little at a time thereafter. Maybe you live in a dry climate...? (Another option is to keep kneading it even though it's breaking. But start with less powder first) If you're planning to open a bubble tea shop: unless it is your USP, your unique selling point, then just buy pre-made raw tapioca pearls from Taiwan and cook them in the shop. I have a video on this for a shop and it takes an hour and a half in total. But if you want to do something very unique, so let's say for example you will really want to sell these organic tapioca pearls that are making from scratch fresh everyday, then you can go ahead and buy one of those machines and make them in the store. But just bear in mind that the cost of the staff member during the time it takes to make tapioca pearls from scratch will add up... So that might depend which country you're located. 👍🏼

Hi, I find your batch of dough a bit too small, can I just double the measurements to make a bigger one?
@BubbleTeaKristin
@BubbleTeaKristin 2 жыл бұрын
Yep 👍🏼 I did a smaller batch because majority of the people are only doing it for one or two drinks for home use, however feel free to double the recipe for a larger quantity. If you don't use all of them right away, as I mentioned in the video after you've made them into the balls, you can freeze them in an airtight container and use them later.
