Well it is now working perfectly... one thing i did was light the pilot... then hold the pilot button down and tilt toward the tank side... it actually cleared up all remaining fluid in the Line... NICE....

After three or four buddy's I got pretty Adept at taking off the back off to remove & clean out the BOTTOM of the pilot light tube. I use a filter. New one's clogged again and to THIS DAY I can NOT get to the top bolt of the pilot tube!! Ah well, a syringe full of acetone was at least a quick fix today! BTW thanks so much for your video - next I'm going to get some brake cleaner mooahaahaa!!! 🖖🤣

I had exactly the same issue with my buddy and it made me crazy. I did the same operations as you. Since I use a gas filter it is so much better. No gurgeling and whisteling anymore. Greetings from Germany!

@@urselw.1686 so I’ve only had to clean it once, I can’t verify but others have said the big issue when using with larger tanks is the rubber connector hose, apparently they leach oil depending on its composition… I do not use a filter but the hose is now several years old and has probably dried up quite a bit. I’ve run more tanks of gas through this since cleaning and no issues yet… but the hose was new at the time, so I kinda believe this is possibly an issue with new hoses… comparatively to others, no chance they have run as much gas through as I have….

I'd really like to know, what this oily liquid is and if it can catch fire. I use a special oilfree hose especially for this heater. But nevertheless the strange luqid is again under the heater. The filter was good against the noises, but that liquid makes me nervous... Greetings

@@urselw.1686 the oil could be from the hose and also from the manufacturing of the tanks, propane does have residual oil also, could be processing methods resulting in different purity … it is certainly flammable, however unless it hits direct flame or exposed to temperature approximately 150c… it’s unlikely those scenarios would happen…. If it were to happen, I’m guessing the unit would be pulled off the market in a hurry…. I’ve tested the heat directly under the unit after running for hours and it’s cool to the touch… worst case just going to make an oil mess… 👍 …

Turn tank off, 10 seconds flame goes out, hose is empty. Turn flame valve off. To restart, turn tank on slowly, turn burner on and light. The hose can not have pressure left in it because Propane is oil and the oil separates and clogs the hose over a few days so this is the correct way to turn off the burner when the hose goes a distance before the proprietary regulator for the burner. A barbecue pit hose does not have this problem because the regulator is at the tank valve.

Nice comment, I always turn tank off first also and let hose run dry.. interesting comment, I can’t verify, but It certainly makes sense to help prevent issues…. Thanks for the comment and I hope others read it…. Very nice contribution… ps this was probably the best advice I’ve received at face value….

Those things are such a pain in the ass to take apart. I had one and had the same issue... disassembled it all and got way to deep into the disassembly (didnt take pics or video) and then ended up buying another one. Now I have the same issue on the replacement... which i now realize was because i didnt purge out the 20lbs tank extension hose when it had oil gathered in it (also i need to get a filter). Im really hoping i can get it working without total disassembly. I almost think they make them that way to keep people from fixing relatively easy problems with them. The taking them apart and putting them back together is harder than what needs to be done... removing the fuel lines and blowing them out

Thanks for the comment, I think you hit on all the relevant points, the main issue is oil buildup in the lines and clearing those lines is not always easy because they are so small.. they could have put a small drain on them or something….

Same issue here, my problem is it is I'm inside one year on manufacturers warranty. Unless you bought it direct from Mr Heater, you're pretty much screwed because they will not take it back if it's been used- can't be shipped according to their site. I bought the 2 year Allstate warranty and they won't touch it being it's in the 1 year manufacturers warranty. Mr Heater says go back to the retail outlet you bought it from so I'll be paying Walmart a visit if I can't get it functioning properly. The problem there as you explained is getting it apart to access the supply tube coming from the intake boss. That fitting is on the far side of the gas manifold, unreachable unless it is completely disassembled... or as close to as one can get. My primary concern is the jet settings. I sure don't want to disrupt those. Now, there are 2 screws on the front top that are inaccessible- one for each side piece and there lies the trick. I have filed a claim on the Allstate policy, whether I wait it out I haven't yet decided... To be continued!

Ok, mines back together and works like it should. I went thru a disposable can of propane when I bought it knowing I'd be using 15lb tanks. I am almost out of the propane in tank #2 since last winter. I'm a retired welder, done all sorts of construction having used lots of propane in my time and I've never seen anything like this oil residue- not even on barbeques... This is UNSAT. this might even be a recall repair issue. I sure don't want to go thru this nonsense every 2, 3, or even 4 tanks. I guess with the Big Buddy it's double your fun, right? YIKES! I'm just glad I pulled mine out before the frost. Mr Heater needs to redesign this model so people can safely service their own heaters with this being an issue with each & every one of them. I think I'm going to pursue an exchange for a new one with Walmart regardless.

I have found out, you can avoid this problem, if you first turn off the gas and wait until the flame is gone, and then turn off the heater. So no oil will gather in the hose. For me it works. Hope you understand my English.

This did occur to me but I haven't taken that step yet as I've only fired it up 4 times in the last couple of weeks. I also found that the low pressure filter collects the oil, with it in hand I pressed the spring pin on the intake side and released the pressurized propane from it which surprised me being that it was off the heater and not connected to the supply hose. Anyway, there was a couple drops of oil released from the filter. (use a popsicle stick or something similar to avoid a freeze burn) @@urselw.1686

If you take the back off you can take that pilot tube off from the back and clean it out. There is actually a little hole in the pilot light line. I did the same thing.

@@thomasmckelvey8961 You should try Ryobi High Pressure inflator with a Moisten Needle! The Power Inflator Nozzle isn't small enough to fit into the pilot light, andit don't blow strong enough!

Wouldn't blowing compressed air in the line just push the oil back up the line rather than out?
