i love Michael but he sounds out of it here, theres arent 30 teams bidding for Soto, theres only like 4 teams that can afford him, also Boras is in no position to play games this time around.

Soto’s real worth will be determined during free agency. The big plus for him to sign an extension with the Yankees is once his signature is on the document, all that money is guaranteed even if he’s seriously injured and is unable fulfill the contract.

I most likely will but there always is a price. If the Yankees offer him 600M/15 years with no deferrals he would be dumb to not take the biggest FA offer by 140M which Ohtani got who is currently a better hitter overall and possibly will pitch again.

As a Mets fan I want Soto but I’m not a fool most ppl believe Soto will stay with the Yankees and I think he will stay there for the name and the money

I hate this talking point about all 30 teams going to bid on him. Yes, all teams can make a bid for Juan Soto. Realistically, there will only be about 4 teams that can actually afford him. So, it's not going to be all 30 teams bidding. This is a weak take and an ignorant statement to make from Mike.

Soto will not get more then 40 million a year. No team will sign a contract for 40 million for 13 or 14 years. People comparing Shohei and any other player is completely different. Before Ohtani (who Soto is not a comparable) the largest contract in baseball was a 12 year $426.5 million contract signed by Trout at age 27. (after 3 MVP's) So Trout and Ohtani are the only two players in MLB history to break 400 million. Ohtani yearly like stated is only worth 46 million. Thats the highest AAV then Judge at 40 million for position players. So im sorry Soto is not getting 50 million for 13 or 14 years. He'll get 35-40 million for 13-14 years more likely. He will not break 550 million total value.

15 years 550M is what the deal will be. That makes him a FA at 40 like most superstars get now a days.

i think boris cares about aav too much for that deal to happen. but im probably wrong and i doubt the players care about it when the bottom line is 550 million

@@moelarry8088 I think AAV matters more on short term deals. Players know that their age 36+ years are rarely going to produce as well at their prime so if Soto is going to want more than 12 years that AAV can't be 45M+ or else that would jus be too much money for anyone.

Hal would have a hard time holding down a job delivering pizza if George didn't hand him the Yankees. And the *ONLY* person dumb enough to praise him for being the worst negotiator ever is Michael Kay.

I don't think he's some incredibly impressive owner or something, but why do you say he's the worst negotiator? All in all he spends money and tries to put out a good team every year and that alone is better than 80% (or more) of the rest of the league
