Something else that I recommend for people that is looking for a BOL and a MAG is to look into the rod and gun clubs in your area. Besides having all the facilities needed for long-term survival, they will also have at least 100 well-armed members. My club has about 250 members with a private, stocked lake and open areas that could be used for gardening and raising livestock.

As some one who used to teach Wilderness Survival back in the 80's, here is the five I taught, in the proper order. Cover, Cordage, Cutting: including a multi Tool, hatchet, axe or tomahawk, and a saw. Combustion, Bic Lighterx2, Strike any where matches and storm proof matches, in a water proof container and some kind of home made tinder. Container, and I'm not talking a water bottle. I am talking something you can actually cook in. As for a compass, you should all ready have one and know how to use it. Candling, yep, a good flashlight or two, plus extra batteries, but again, you should already have it in your kit. As you should have a decent First Aid Kit, and a way to purify water. P.S. I have a vision impairment, so I use and have a magnifying glass with me all the time. You say yours in 10x, its too big, You see the higher the magnification level, the smaller the lens. I just looked at my 10x magnifier and it is smaller then the one you have. Plus as a fire starter, it leaves a lot to be desired.

Many of the survival skills and list transfer over to a bug out bag. I like a canteen cup set as I can cook with it and the freeze dried meals just need hot water. Some of the items you mentioned are coming up in the next part. I really appreciate you watching and commenting!

Well i think you did a good job telling others the basics and i did the same thing for my bag however i made one change in that i ended up getting tired of changing out gear depending on season so i made one that is good for all 4 seasons which is what i have now as a bug out bag.

Basically the only charges I make is adding a warmer sleeping bag by strapping it to the bottom of the pack and adding a change of thermals and wool cap and gloves for winter. I really appreciate you watching and commenting!

One last thing. The higher in altitude you go, water will boil at a lower temperature. I live at 6000 feet above sea level, just east of a spur of the Rocky Mountains. Water boils at 200 degrees, so boiling might not be as effective. So I carry water purification drops. Not iodine. Just to be sure.

Yes it is like canning at higher altitudes, it takes longer to have the same results. I keep the water purification tablets but prefer a filter as my primary means.

Do you know that you can buy braided fish line with a #550 lb. test strength? I carry 100' in my pocket at all times.

I like the 30 for fishing kits and repair thread but may need to look into the 550. There are so many synthetic fibers on the market now with better strength and smaller diameter. I appreciate the suggestion and thank you for watching!

just subscribed. first video I have seen of yours. very informative . Jesus Christ is my Savior. I just wish He was everybody's savior then we wouldn't have to worry about bug out bags........On a side note, there is one thing I never see mentioned for any kind of bag on anyone's video, that is nail clippers, Toe and finger. Maybe you have mentioned it but like I said , this is the first video of yours I have watched. Thanks

Thank you and I truly appreciate that. If everyone would walk with Jesus the world would definitely be a better place. I build my kit with the intention of it being a 72 hour kit but a pair of mail clippers is a great idea as they are small, lightweight and can be used to clip fishing line as well. I really appreciate you watching, commenting and subscribing!
