Jesse, put REAL shutters on ur windows, preferably inside.. so when u lock up for the night or extended absence, ur shop is secure(plus no one can see whats inside), im sure u'll have a couple camera's IN and around ur shop, to keep tabs on it.. from inside ur house and on ur phone(when ur at work or away)..

Yep i learned the hard way too. I was 30 ft in the air nailing a rafter to a ridge beam and I had one come out sideways and go into my thumb. Never climbed 30 ft downward so fast

Since you are building a garage, make sure you install a garage exhaust hose; it's a must. Make it maneuverable by having it come down from the ceiling so it's not in the way. That way, you can keep the garage soot-free as well as protect your lungs. Especially in the winter when you want to keep the doors close.

Stick framing will always win, especially with the cost you save in the foundation/concrete. Imagine you had to pour, not to mention dig, 4’x2’ dia footing holes every 4’. That’s what they make you do out here. And if you do surface mount like you were considering you need an 18” rebar stemwall with 8” footing as well. The stick frame on slab is wildly economical. Obvious move. Insulation, wiring, everything is straightforward as well

The way that you do things is always spot on and correct. I could understand your frustration with other material dealers just wanting to up sell you. Never would have considered snow load with other building methods and would have thought that the manufacture of other buildings would have taken that into consideration for your area. You definately did the math on why you constructed the building your way which saves us time when we are ready for such a project.

sitting here relaxing and watching you video, and your chatting aoubt the cost and pricing of steel fram and pole barn type construtcion, and watching you and Pat nail it all together, and all of a sudden I see one of your small goats walk up and into all this. just so funny and yet so cute..next scene, goat is gone, and here comes noah..🙂always expect the unexpected! and why I love and enjoy your videos, and have since the beginning. Pat and your brother are a great asset to all that you are doing, and in your construction business as well, you are all blessed to have one another. sucks that you and yourt brother were working out in the rain. Love how Noah comes out to help, during this. Great father to teach your sons. They will learn more of the trades from you than they will ever learn in a school that doesn;t teach anything to kids any longer, so blessed to have them both home schooled. Hope Noah didn;t forget his little stuff animal when he left..don't find having a few windows for a garage is nuts, in fact, I personally find it logical. Look forward to the next video on this, with the truses and doors,and ???

Make sure to use wire mesh and stapler to seal potential mice/rats/ squirrels chewing spots like corners, around pipes etc very easy to do it now. Even if they enter the building from the doors they will have a limited space to hide in and limited highway to travel from place to place inside the walls ,easy to get rid of them. I saw too many buildings have a big problem with rodents. Less than $100 will do the whole building (wire mesh, stapler and snips)
@jmuller86

Agreed Jesse. I went with Makita tools about 8 or 9 years ago when I was fixing and building VWs. I had air tools previously. Best decision I ever made. They are a bit slower on R&D for newer products compared to Milwaukee, but I have had pretty much zero headaches. To each their own I guess.

Jesse, before I watch the video I had one thought seeing the delivery truck. Aight, so you don't want to readjust your culvert pipe so you can adjust the ditch now that you know where the road needs to be, so how about making your own manhole around the culvert and putting a drain grate on the top of it to drain the driveway, then you can move the ditch where you need to move it on the garage side, have the water plop into the box and turn that weird angle to meet the driveway pipe. All it costs is a yard or two of concrete, the new culvert, some iron for the reinforcing and making a grate. you could even pour with the pipes in place for a better seal. Then you know you get the box height right for your situation. just an idea, time is money.
