I bought a norinco 756s7 imported from siles, ny in '91. Sights, gas block, bluing all solid. Bummer that they had to grind the bayonet lug and replace the original stock and grip with a thumbhole type.

I don't know hardly anything about AK's but I will say the couple of times I got to shoot a WASR and a PSA 74 I about creamed myself. I instantly was comfortable with the platform and a 74 is softer shooting and more accurate in my hands than my own ARs. I think I was instantly comfortable with them because they're pretty no-nonsense and I've always preferred the AK variants in FPS games. I am willing to die on the hill of video game skills and knowledge can transfer into the real world.

I've gotten rid of all my milled AK rifles. They are beautiful but I was not a fan of the extra weight and heavier recoil. I also did not see the big increase in accuracy many claim.

Draco has been consistently some of the most accurate AKs I've shot. The 12" barrel seems to be the magic lenght for the 7.62.

That WASR had the drip...........the super ergo metal stock pad is my favorite. The cheaply laminated sexy wood......reminds me of my first A.K.M. I miss it. I have a SAM7, OG Hungarian, Saiga 103 ish, and 2 Yugo's (long and short) Serbian. All that being said........I miss my WASR. If you can do it, it can do it. Hell- my dog's name is Draco. I guess you could say I'm an AK fan. For serious accuracy work I choose an ARtype/AR10 or alike but for most things a good AKM is VERY hard to beat. Good stuff Gents.........as always.

@Chrisblau I was thinking along the same line. I'm .556 ammo rich. A little AK ammo poor. It's so much easier to be as standardized as possible with the ammo caliber. I wanted a 6.5 Grendel AR. But the caliber is very niche and expensive. So, I took a pass. Have a good weekend.

Bulgarian Arsenal SLR106 tuned by Fuller Phoenix “Jim Fuller” would be a great option. M13 in Las Vegas is another great AK builder and have to mention Krebs “Mark Krebs” can certainly get an AK running great. BTW anything KRINK is good to go 🙌🏼

Ok. Ok. Got my RD build finally and the trigger is better than I expected. Since I already owned the LBE unlimited trigger and it was just sitting in my parts drawer I was quite skeptical of it being in my 3600$ RD build. Things were said that made me question the validity of their ALG nightmare claims and I don't bite unless I know it's food. Happy with the trigger and extremely happy with the gun. I wanted to follow-up since I was stirring the pot a bit. I guess I'm leaving the trigger alone. Maybe even post my first video with this since nobody has a video on an RD 705. Maybe. Later.

My Bulgarian SLR104UR 5.45 (Krink) was my grail AK. The 5.45 and 7.62x39 ammo situation for that matter fuckin sucks. Hopefully AAC ammo can pick up the slack like they’ve been stating. 5.56 AK’s might be the smartest option right now. Polish Beryls are so sick. If you’re a real gun guy you gotta have at least one AK variant in your collection preferably a combloc made one. they’re so fun to shoot.

Removing the hand guard hanger enables the SLR rail to hang from the trunian. This free floats the barrel, which increase the accuracy since you have less hanging from the barrel. Also when using a barricade the hand guard does not put pressure on the barrel which can affect accuracy as well.

The Kalashnikov recoils, feels, looks, and smells like an 80's thrash metal mosh pit. And the AK community only adds to that experience. You step in, prepare to be knocked around. If you can take the beatings and keep gunnin', welcome to the rowdiest bunch in the 2A Community. That being said, the 2nd Ammendment grows when American Gun companies grow and more people are armed with whatever firearm they can afford. The AK community will hate me for saying that.

At 16: 06 take a look at how much the dust cover is moving every time it's fired. The sight is mounted to this cover, it looks cool but not a good mounting choice.

You're actually seeing the bolt carrier move.. the tws dog leg top cover holds zero. I'm assuming you haven't used one

I'm surprised you didn't bring in a Galil... especially the newer ones - they feel a bit more at home with AR guys. Anyway the Kalash is really a solid platform for reliability. Though not perfect, if the thing jams you can usually get back up and running easier than with an AR. I prefer the more solid rock & lock mag retention over the insert and push to lock method. It is just more robust, handles harsh conditions better, and isn't just going to drop out even when you think it is inserted. Also you can still field strip an AK if it is jammed, you can't field strip an AR if it is jammed in a lot of cases unless you're able to get the bolt fully or at least very close to fully seated. I've also removed stuck casings from AR's with my AK cleaning rod.

The whole idea behind the akm was to be cheap, mass produced guns. Nowadays we somehow gotten into some crazy territory here where guns cost three times what they used to be, and you’re lucky to get a gun that’s straight lol.

Top 5, In no order, but must haves for me. AKM in 7.62x39. Soviet, Polish, DDR, Romy, Hungarian or Yugo. RPK in 7.62x39. Romy, Soviet, Yugo. Type 1,2 or 3 in 7.62x39. Soviet or Bulgarian or Yugo T-3ish milled. A underfolder from the above countries in 7.62x39, either milled or stamped. A AK-74 in 5.45x39, Soviet or Bulgarian. Fixed or side folding stock. Bonus round mentions, A Vityaz in 9mm A RPK-74 A AK-104 A Polish Tantal Something preban like a nice Chicom. I have all of the above. I avoid Gucci/tacticool AKs.
