Train-track in China is so clean, cant see any rubbish, Chinese trains is so clean and smooth out of this world, i think the best thing when youre taking the train is you wont get bored with the beautiful scenery, cant get enough of it. The station is like an airport, thank you for showing the world what China really is. Edit: 谢谢

If a city is really rich, it can even build a railway station underground in the center of the city, like West Kowloon in Hong Kong.

If you add in travel times to and from airport. Check in and boarding times for flight. It might only be a couple of hours quicker by flight. Plus all the hassle of changing and limited luggage to fly. Most train stations are in city center. Most important in, less pollution by train.

I'd book a flight. Beyond a certain distance, trains don't make sense. 9+ hours in a capsule is prison.

@@stephenc6955 I totally agree. But a lot of people don't like the fuss of air travel. Besides, it's not really a capsule, it's like 8 capsules that you can walk through. There's usually a dinning car, and you can get some fresh air at each of the stops, not to mention the takeouts you can order. China really is making train travel much more appealing nowadays.

Nice to see how the other half live! We've just flown across the country for about 800 RMB each and have spent the last couple of weeks down the South West. Compared to Britain it's cost us pennies, but still, I have no income, so I've done it on the cheap. Hotels for £10-15/night (max). Of course, no fancy Japanese loos! In fact we had squat loos once or twice. But not all hotels let foreigners stay (they need a special certificate, I think) so whilst the standard has been less than luxurious, we've had everything we need, and we're still having it better than a lot of Chinese. Great video. Thanks.

I agree Robin, I am taking the luxury route.. part as an experience because I could never afford anything like this back in the U.K… I usually shop around and get decent deals but I still have an income thankfully 👍 When I retire, I plan to travel and do this more so I will need to learn to economise a lot 😆

Now, i only use the 2nd class. I prefer use the high speed train, it is safe, no need to go to airport that is always far flrom city and we need to ready to go to airport 3 hours before (2 hours before flight and 1 hour trip from hotel to airport) Actually, i dont like the airplane and a little afraid.

The Chinese HSR passengers travel The average distance about 300-400 kms. Most people choose trains if the travel distance is under 1000 kms. There are very few flights available at this distance in China if there is HSR in the same route, For example,Shanghai to wuhan, or Guangzhou to wuhan. But over 1500 kms, flight is a better option. I think Shanghai to Shenzhen is the busiest flight route in China.

@@ForAllLifesAdventures actually in China, this is also why most people chose trains over flight. Most smaller cities in China don’t have airports. If they have to go to airports 100 kms away, it’s better just take trains even it is a couple of hours longer.

Very interesting and thanks for all the info I prefer to go 1st class, on the train, which is affordable for journeys of about 5-6 hours and take something to read, play games on my laptop, listen to MP3 etc and take a thermos for tea or coffee, with biscuits. The food's OK as well. For a 9 hour journey, I couldn't sleep on a plane and not sure if I could sleep on the train, so best time to travel, is during the day, when you don't usually feel the need to sleep.

You have to go to the passport scan line to get through the gate, usually the first lane at the gate check in to get down onto the train platform. It’s no hassle, just make sure you stand at the correct side for that scan lane as it can be a hassle to cross through all the other people waiting to scan using their I.D.
