I tried that burger yesterday and I was extremely pissed at the micro size and how much bun vs a burger the size of a sausage patty. They literally gave us the King Jr and called it the Big King. Embarrassing 😒

Looks like it's two whopper patties in a regular burger with the stacker burger sauce. Basically a whopper double if it didn't have tomatoes. Not that impressive. Can even be regular patties, not whopper. Can't really tell from here

@@gemstonegynoid7475 Regular patties this release. This is basically a double cheeseburger with lettuce, pickle, onion and stacker sauce. The “Big King XL” released a few years back used Whopper patties.

It's close in size to Bk's double cheeseburger too, which is almost half the cost. McDonald's does the same thing with the big Mac. It's only a little more food than a double cheeseburger but the big Mac costs 2-3 times more.

The failure of Burger King to be unable to create a distinct menu item that rivals the Big Mac is nothing short but telling of the many failures their marketing, as well as their management of resources. They use the words 'Big King' to make a pale imitation to the Big Mac, trying to pull wool over the eyes of their regular consumers. Every one of their special items always fall flat, and it's nothing short of expected. Burger King will only possess the 'whopper' as an item they can truly call their own.

@@rendot2 Dissenting opinion: it's anything but concise. Poorly formatted, redundant adjectives, and repeated misuse of the phrase "nothing short of." The first sentence is a run-on, and I've seen fourth-grade practice essays that inflate their word count more naturally than this. ❌ 6.5/10, needs serious improvement, but I'll bump that up if you re-submit it with the errors corrected before class ends tomorrow.

Sadly even their whopper has become gross. BK was my spot in the late 90’s. Everything they had was good. It all started to collapse after 9/11. That caused them to sever ties with their previous distributors because they got too expensive due to the outcome of the terrror attacks. Coincidentally, that was exactly the same time Taco Bell went to hell with their quality too

@@TobeyFairre7861 I worked there from 2015 to 2018, they used to have great burgers. The last 3 years they have not come out with a single new item on the menu. All they do is recycle items and take off or add a couple toppings that are already available on current sandwiches. Remember the Mac n Cheetos, whopperito, teriyaki chicken, angry whopper, sriracha burger, and more all came out during the time I worked there lol. Tacos too

The last time I went to BK my husband and I ordered some ice cream only to find chunks of black plastic embedded in it. Turns out a piece of the machine broke and went straight into the ice cream. They gave me a $20 coupon that I have no intention of using since I was never a BK fan anyway especially after that incident. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. Literally. 😂😂😂

Burger King was pretty good in the '70's (yeah, I'm old). It started going downhill in the eighties and since the nineties has been pretty inedible. I'm continually amazed that they are still in business.

At Australia's version of Burger King, Hungry Jacks, they had a similar sandwich called the Big Jack that was a lot closer to the Big Mac. They kept it on the menu for almost a full year because people actually liked it better. I'm surprised Burger King could fumble this when there's already a proven precedent for it within their own company.

A cursory googling says that: “When Burger King moved to expand its operations into Australia in the 1970s, the name “Burger King” was already trademarked by a takeaway food shop in Adelaide. The franchise owner, Jack Cowin was then given a list of possibly alternative names derived from pre-existing trademarks owned by BK and their parent company, Pillsbury. Cowin selected the name “Hungry Jack” based off of one of Pillsbury US’s pancake mix and, of course, his own name. The first store was opened in Innaloo, Perth on 18 April 1971.” Really interesting stuff. Sending love to Australia from the States. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!

It's really bizarre that BK has already had this item on the menu before - last time, with actual whopper patties, which actually made it taste better than the actual Big Mac imho - and somehow thought to change it to make it smaller without adjusting the toppings accordingly. If you're going to make a Big Mac-style burger without the bun in-between, you HAVE to portion the toppings and sauce correctly in order to avoid that overpowering tang-saltiness from the Thousand Island.

OMG I love your reviews, you are SO FUN! Great review, as always. One tiny little tidbit though, I have read that McDonald's has made their "special sauce" public, and has even published it. I could be wrong, it could be one of those dang urban legends but I believe that and their Fillet of Fish tartar sauce are both in the public domain.

Around 22 years ago Burger King had a nacho cheese type whooper that was outstanding. The best thing they had ever made. Used to go to Burger King once a week to get this and now I go about once every 2 years.

Those are honestly so good and I’m just genuinely curious about some of the items he may have found mediocre in certain chains in the US such as this burger from Burger King and if he’ll find it tasting surprisingly different in the UK or anywhere else.

In Germany you can get this the whole year. There IS a big, huge variant called the "Big King XXL" here that is basically the size of a double whopper. I used to tell them to not put big king sauce on it and put chili cheese sauce on instead, ask for extra jalapenos and then basically I'd have a giant chili cheeseburger.

I liked Burger King as a kid, but as an adult, my experiences with it have been awful. The only thing I like is their breakfast burrito and their hash browns, and their jalapeno cheddar bites, but the rest is gross

Worked at a BK, the first thing they tell you is that their burgers and pretty much anything you eat there has an increased chance of giving you cancer if overcooked. The second thing they said was to not tell customers.

I have yet to eat a Burger King sandwich anywhere in the US over the past 10 years where the patty was actually hot enough to melt the cheese. They seem to cook the patties then let them sit in warm water until needed. Truly pathetic.

The onions have a completely different taste and texture at Mickey D's, as does the lettuce. That makes a big difference. Plus the flame broiled completely over powers the taste. BK has the whopper, and I love that. They need to go back to their old chicken sandwich.

Fun fact: Albany, NY is known for being a test market for new products. When I was in college in '97, we had Big Kings and Gorditas for a dollar before they were anyplace else

I worked for Burger King in the 90's when it was actually good. The food was quality and actually flame broiled. Since then I refuse to give them a chance especially when they discontinued the Italian chicken sub. I just don't care when I see their new promo. They either need to go back to the basics and stop w/ the stupid concepts or just close shop. As always great review Report of the week!

@@BlackAesop I agree man.. Back in the 90's I would go to BK and get a sandwich and then go across the street to McDs and get fries.. BK had the best sandwiches back then, but they started to fall off early 2000s.. I don't know what happened, they had to have changed meat suppliers or something..

I miss their old chicken fingers and ranch. I also remember really enjoying those fries you shook in the bag with some cheese powder… I know it was probably horrible but I remember loving it! If they could only bring back or do something similar but nope instead we have the Big King 🙄

I already know it's nasty. Those smoky tasting flame-broiled patties need something to foil/counter them, which is why the whopper works. This looks extremely one-sided as far as flavor. Cheese, sauce - and that's pretty much it. A tomato might even be a big help here. So yeah, salty would be about it.

I remember the Big King of the late 90's having three patties, they had a 2 for 3 back then. I use to get two of im and go to the dollar theatre. It was my "Five dollar fridays" lol

Their market is they’re cheap. A dollar for nuggets, 37 cent burger day, there’s no possible way it’s gonna taste good. I’ve never been happy leaving there.

I was typing about Burger KIng and was just about to post it when he started talking about the war and I just deleted the whole thing. Sometimes it’s good to be reminded that even though we have a lot of problems in the US, we don’t have to worry about bombs falling on our houses. I appreciate all that you do, Reviewbrah. It's interesting to see how the quality of fast food chains vary from country to country. In Germany for example Burger King ist widely regarded as better than McDonald's.

Two beef patties, stacker sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun. Literally the same ingredients as a Big Mac. Created for families with that one kid who wants to go to McDonald's for a BM. But it does have one significant advantage over the BM: They've left out that stupid middle layer of bun.

I don't think a middle bun could have saved this sandwich or Burger King at this point. It feels like when they have a good thing going they find ways to cut corners. He's right, the burger was Whopper sized years ago but I guess BK felt like they were giving us too much so they give us these kid's sized burgers.

I went to BK the other day during my lunch hour. I ordered the Ch'King at 10:50am. I was told there would be a wait, so I asked them about how long of wait would it be as I have waited about 7 minutes before for one. They said it would be about a 45 minute wait. At the time, I was the only car in the drive thru and there was only a couple of cars in the parking lot. I don't know of any "fast food" restaurant that would need 45 minutes to fry a boneless chicken breast. Needless to say, I declined to wait and went to Wendy's instead.....just to end up being disappointed (in their food) as well. Here's to better experiences in the fast food future!

I actually just stopped at Burger King last night after grocery shopping because it sounded like a solid sandwich, but then I got the thing and thought I had gotten a mistaken sandwich. There's nothing really that makes it stand out as a Big King, it has no unique toppings, so when I get this burger that's sized like a regular burger and not sized like the Whopper, I kind of thought the store got my order wrong. Luckily since this was my first sit down order in a while I could just ask them, and the lady at the counter sounded like she had gotten this question/complaint a lot, so it seems like it's not just me and Brah. She assured me it was the correct sandwich and it just wasn't as big as the advertisement implied, which I accepted readily and sat back down. Anyway the sandwich was fine but for that size I'd rather just get a double quarter pounder of some sort. There's really nothing special to it other than the "Stacker Sauce" and come on, does sauce really make a burger? It's fine but there's other sauces I'd much rather have on my sandwich and with no other appealing details, I certainly won't be ordering it again.

Back in the 1970's, Burger King had a fish sandwich called the "Whaler", and that thing was appropriately named, it was huge..!! The "Whaler" was at least...at least...more than twice as large as any fish sandwich at any other fast food place...then or now. BK also had a big and very good hot ham & cheese which I think was on a hoagie type bun. Burger King...You are no longer the "King" of anything, you are just another "pauper" in the fast food world.
