I showed my 13yo son who is learning drums. My 6yo son soon gathered around and we all stood around appreciating what dedication and craft looks like. Thanks for being an inspiration. Also it's nice to listen to while my boys headbang by the fire pit at night.

Well, I'm absolutely blown away... I expected you to make a cover of this song, but the quality of this cover more than exceeded my expectations! The audio quality/mixing is great. Performance, fucking superb! Camera angles, interesting and provide great views of the brain melting action. I must say, this is far better than any cover of this song anywhere on the internet! Everything is definitely taken a huge step further from your previous covers, especially of Burzum. Please stay fucking awesome and as always, keep annihilating!

@@brontik22 I won't say that I agree with most of Varg's beliefs however I sometimes watch his youtube videos and my impression is that the ,,audio quality/mixing'' is the last thing which Varg cares about. I don't say that this is good or bad thing, I'm just saying that in my opinion such videos don't match with the Varg's view of music

There are more controversial personas in controversial bands (gorgoroth, emperor, mayhem, marduk, etc.) but still I would like to stay in discussion about music they make/made. If we are talking about audio quality/mixing, don't you feel that his "noisy" sound somehow lifts the atmosphere/vibe/essence of his music? don't get me wrong, I more into high quality recordings, nevertheless, black metal is black fcking metal :)

I think I once read Fenriz of Darkthrone saying that when he hears this wall of sound kind of early BM albums its like this in your head sounds like an orchestra or synths playing, but you have to like get it. Like when you hear a small live show or a rehearsal and you really "hear" the dynamics and the feedback plus the energy or the band and the listeners and all this noise turns into a pulsing drive and sweeping harmonies lifting the whole thing off the ground. Hypnotic and mesmerising, really psychedelic actually. This song is one of those, this cover brings out this driving wall of sound and builds upon the original production. I think this track is the first I heard from Lycantrop and I may have commented already on it but fuck it. This is a epic reworking of the original. Got into so many other band because of this channel too. Spread the word !!! Lycantrop !!!!

@@killers31337 its because of the production quality. The wall of sound its much more raw in the original, because probably Varg used like 1 microphone to record everything and the sound its so compacted that the wall of sound its all over it

Apparently Varg didn't have double bass. So he played single bass drum kicks and the technician copied the drum kick track and pasted it along side to make the double bass sound in the record. This is unlistenable. ^_^

Thanks man! I really appreciate it! Yes, I saw the new cover by Steven. I actually know him personally and we met a few times, since he happens to live just one city away from here. I really like his approach on this song. He did a great job! It shows again, that this song has just so many levels...

His approach of jesu tod is good but the fact that he didnt play the drum himself make the song feel less true and less natural, even if the original is unbeatable ofc. Thats a matter of taste, i Guess. Continue to do covers, you do a great job! Cheers from France, Britain !

May I suggest something : it sounds different if you play the main riff on the D and G string, 2nd and 4th fret, while resonating the B string, and keep the resonance during the whole riff. It sounds closer to the original, gives a darker, trashier and more organic tone. That being said, I use your cover to jam on it everyday, so thank you so much. I love this cover so much.

Honestly, the whole cover of one of my fave burzum songs is awesome, I love the mix, the vocals and atmosphere are on point, I prefer the mixing on this version to the album, and... You absolutely nailed the intro, those opening riffs are actually some of my a time fave black metal riffs
