If everyone were like you, the market would instantly go back how it was pre covid. You did the right thing and even if it takes you having to go to 10 dealerships to get the deal you're comfortable with, then do be it. When people pay that $10,000+ markup, it encourages dealerships to price gouge like they've been doing. Looking forward to seeing you get the car at msrp.

Preaching the truth. I had red flags talking to an Acura dealership in Dallas that said we would have to “get the numbers right” before letting me test drive one. I was like “what does that mean in English? I’m not paying over msrp.”

Its a shame what these dealers are doing to these cars. The manufacturers make these cars for people like you and me. The problem is that in a few years Acura/Honda/VW/Toyota etc won’t see strong sales numbers and they discontinue these special machines cause there isn’t enough “demand”. Bullshit, we want the cars but not at these absurd dealer markups…good on you and good hunting. I’ll be on the lookout for your video when you make your purchase. Thanks for keeping it real, there's so many people that NEED to hear this! I've been standing my ground and giving these dealerships real numbers and showing them that these markups are not justified. It's crazy how full of s*** these salesmen are, telling me that the Integra Type S goes for $62k, and I quickly correct him that it's $52k, currently selling at sticker price at other dealerships. How does the FL5 still have a $10k markup, another dealership 5 miles away still has a $20k markup when there's 8 FL5's within 20 miles of me that aren't selling from $48.9-49.9 and listed 78 days ago?!? What does this suggest? Their argument is that there's only a limited supply of them being released and that they hold their values. Evidently not, especially if someone paid a $15-20k markup and could only sell it back to the dealership for $40k after 2k miles driven. Two years ago, I traded in my 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport for $36k, and I bought it used for $29k 7 months prior. The market is changing, there's a recession looming, interest rates are through the roof, and auto loans are becoming much harder to get approved for because of all of the delinquent accounts from bad loans during the pandemic. Btw, TrueCar does not honor their advertised prices either. Many of which advertise the MSRP, but once you contact them, it's $15-20k over sticker. I contacted TrueCar about the false advertisements and they threatened to remove the dealer from their site if their prices weren't advertised correctly. TrueCar told me that they can contact only the dealership that I wanted to do business with if I can commit to purchasing it from them. IMHO, I don't want to do business with a dealership only because they've been threatened by a third party to do business with me. They don't deserve our business, and I wouldn't trust a dealership halfway across the country when they're already showing hostility with the transaction.

You have to tell them that you want the out the door price for these type of cars. I didn’t get the Integra Type S but I got that same Carbon metallic with Red interior A spec Integra and I got it at MSRP. Don’t let them fool you at all and good on you for backing out. Honestly the A-Spec version is not bad, I highly recommend that version over the Type S.

yup. I almost got scammed out of miami acura. 8k mark up. I ordered silver and waited a full month. that color was never ordered for me, yet to this date still that color hasn't arrived to the state. ended up paying a small mark up at another dealer and got a different color way outta my spectrum

Just got my A-Spec 6M for -$1k under msrp, but got the same line about the Type S. So next year when the hype is gone and the dealers come back to earth maybe I'll trade up.

I wish that car manufacturers would sell directly to the consumer the way other product manufacturers do. This would eliminate that price gouging immediately. I want one of these but I refuse to pay much over $50k for an Integra when there are other viable competitors in that price range. Kudos for walking away.

Integra Type S are all over lots in south Florida? Im trying to find one in Canada and there are none anywhere to be found. Waitlists at every dealer for them. Get on the waitlist and they may call you when 1 of the 5 they get every year comes in.

Bro, even to this day, there are dealerships here in CA that are marking up the Civic Type R FL5 20k above MSRP and fools are paying it. And when they do, it justifies to the dealerships this toxic practice. It's literally consensual theft. And they always sell you with, "oh our dealership is only getting a couple. This is an enthusiast car. Demand is high. It's very limited edition." I've personally called over 20 dealerships for the Type R, and told every single one I refuse to pay mark up, and they just say okay, have a nice day, bye, someone else will pay it. I've called 3 dealerships about the Type S and been told they are marking it up 10k, and had the exact same denial. Sucks for average guys like us. Good luck with your journey man.

Hey bud I just got mine in grey/red interior from Scanlon acura in Fort Mayers if you're willing to drive 3.5h you can find the its at msrp (the caviat is you need to add 4-5k in access which i was ok to that) and tbh cannot be happier with the overall experience.

Just wait, the car market is overstocked, sales are in decline, and getting worst through to the new year. Plenty opportunities coming, might be a blessing in a disguise.

You are absolutely right that paying above MSRP is a non-starter. And advertising a price at MSRP and then requiring a mark-up is a predatory practice. But you are wrong about supply and demand. Your basis is wrong. There may be several on dealer lots, but dealers know that they will not be getting many more, and they don't even know when more, if any, will arrive. So dealers can hold out for the folks who don't care about the price. I shopped the West Palm Beach Acura dealer, and with no shame they told me it would be 12k over MSRP. When I said that even half that would be too much the sales manager said thanks anyway, and he'd let me know if they ever changed it. If we all do like you, dealers will have to stop it, but with supply very low, and demand being high, some will charge what the market will bear. Similar to the Civic Type R, or, lately, the Chrysler 300C and a few others, with 10% over MSRP being common. For test drives, I agree with the dealer. Too many people will come in with no intention of buying one, but just want to test drive it for fun, revving the engine to redline in every gear, abusing the clutch, and crashing the gears. I don't think buyers like you and me want to buy a car like this after dozens of drivers have had fun with it that way.

even $52k, it’s still expensive for an integra. It is not flying off the lot anyway, let alone markup. Only a few that is crazy about honda will buy.

They push base models or basic cars we dont want down our throats, but let us want a sports car and then they treat you like you’re an underage teen trying to buy GTA or alcohol.

Honda built the cars to make $$$ not for “us”. We just happen to be the avenue in which they gather the $$$.

Sucks you're having so much problems from these dealerships. I have a 2014 Subaru WRX in World Rally Blue that I bought brand new with 23 miles on it. I'm also in the market for a Type S and I live in South Florida. Hopefully, it'll work out for both of us! We just have to wait them out.

Dang man it sucks buying a car these days it’s the worst time to be buying a car for anyone the integra type is ain’t even that rare, me personally I would not pay anything over msrp why am I pay a dealer an extra 1k-15k to sell me a car on top of that onece u drive it off the lot it loses its value even if u buy at msrp. And them saying they don’t let costumers test drive the car is a lie I test drove a type s my local dealer has a handful of them sitting on the lot they’re not selling as fast as you would think 52k + markup+ taxes and fees+ interest rates when your done that car easily will cost u 75k in the end if you’re not buying it outright.

Same thing happened to me over text message. Sale agent said $45345 for Type R. So I started driving down( a 65 mile drive and I was half way there) and then he dropped the invoice with a $15k mark up with stupid accessories too over picture message. I wrote a nasty review on google and told him to F off and stop calling me. Retard kept asking me to come in and negotiate.

I can't wait until they allow OEM's to do direct sales to customers for non-evs. Dealerships have proven to be nothing but a usless and greedy middle men. Dealerships are as usless as the health insurance industry.
