Жыл бұрын

"Big Shot" Robert Horry joins Byron Scott to talk about his 16 seasons in the NBA, how he changed the game, winning 7 NBA Championships: two with the Houston Rockets, three with the Los Angeles Lakers and another two with San Antonio Spurs. He also talks about playing with Kobe Bryant on the Los Angeles Lakers and how they would mess with him during practice, the toughest player to guard, what it was playing against Larry Bird, why Larry was such a great trash talker and much more!
www.byronscottpodcast.com
OFF THE DRIBBLE features Byron Scott who is a 3 time NBA champion with the Showtime Lakers of the 80s. Byron famously played with and coached players such as Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, and many others. Byron also coached for multiple NBA franchises including the Head Coach for the Lakers from 2014-2016. On this podcast Byron will be interviewing former and current athletes as well as guests from the sports and entertainment world. He will give you the behind the scenes stories you've never heard before.

I love Robert Horry, especially when he was winning those crucial games for the Lakers to win the championships. His clutches saved teams from losing the championships. He was either lucky or something, but his confidence and arching shots (very beautiful and perfect) made him lucky.

@LazyCrazyGuy
@LazyCrazyGuy Жыл бұрын
@@lesliebarber206 on a serious note you can't make that comparison. Robert Horry was a baller but as Shaq would say. It ain't the same thing if you riding the bus as opposed to driving the bus. MJ has 6 rings but he drove that bus and got 6 Finals MVPS to prove it. Robert Horry didn't get a single Finals MVP in those 7 titles. I'm not diminishing what he did just saying he wasn't even the top 3 on his squad during any of those title runs.
@lesliebarber206
@lesliebarber206 Жыл бұрын
@@LazyCrazyGuy but how was he riding the bus when he came to the Lakers with 2 chips already, he was the one who hit the game winning shots on the teams he played with before, when it's team ball every man has a important role, yeah you have guys on the bench and they you can say are bus rider and will get a participation ring just for being on the team, but Robert Horry is not that he was a active player and very crucial to the team!

One of my favorite players of all time Mr. Robert Horry. One of my favorite showtime Laker players Mr. Byron Scott, I used to imitate his jump shot because I always thought it was really good mechanically. The other two showtime Lakers that were also my favorite are James Worthy and Michael Cooper

i've always loved guys like RH, who are humble and realistic. i used to tell kobe haters about how ridiculously charitable and good he was to just ordinary people...nobody believed me b/c he never, EVER did it in front of the cameras. reminds me of the biblical verse (paraphrased poorly) re: don't be the person praying out there in the open, be the one praying in the closet. kobe really did take a hard left turn and allowed this other side of him to be SEEN, FINALLY, for the first time ever. it's like he thought it would be seen as a weakness...fact is, he was a caring human being who created so much good in the world.
