Cabbage Casserole With Sausage Best Southern Country Recipe
Cabbage Casserole With Sausage Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 medium head of cabbage (chopped)
1 small onion (chopped)
8 Tbsp butter
1 lb. ground sausage
1/3 cup mayo
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 sleeve of Ritz crackers (crushed)
3 Tbsp butter (melted)
1 cup shredded cheese
Directions:
Place the chopped cabbage, onion and 8 Tbsp of butter in a pan and sauté for about ten minutes until the cabbage is starting to get soft.
Brown the sausage in a fryer and drain the grease.
In a 9 X 13 casserole dish place the sautéed cabbage and onion.
Place the browned sausage on top of the cabbage.
Mix the cream of chicken and mayo and then spread on top.
Crush the Ritz crackers and mix them in a bowl with the cheese and 3 Tbsp of melted butter.
Sprinkle the cheese mixture on top of the casserole.
Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
Let cool a little before serving.
Serve and Enjoy !!!!

I will have to try it this way I do one lb cooked hamburger in bottom of casserole dish..add chopped cabbage and onions, pour two cans of tomato soup over it..cut up 2 sticks of butter and lay over the top.covee and bake 350 for about one hour and 15 minutes until thw cabbage is very tender..i guess you could pre cook thw cabbage and onions lome you did. Thw tomatoe soup makes it taste fabulous..low carb and good.

Making this right now as I'm typing. Easy to make, and boy does it smell delicious. I did add organic red peppers 🌶 and mushrooms 🍄 to mine to give it a little color texture and more taste. It's now in the oven for 30 minutes 🙌 Will let you know how it turns out. Love your recipes 😋 This was so delicious. The sausage really made this. My husband really loved it and said he wants me to make it again. We are doing leftovers today. 😋 Thanks for all the great recipes. ❤️🦃😊

This is an oldie but definitely a goody!! I’ve been watching cabbage casserole recipes and this came up. All of us I’m my family love cabbage. Even my niece has loved her Mamaw’s fried cabbage since she was just a little girl. This looks so good!! Marie is a great teacher and you are a great student. Was thinking this was before your sickness and I am so glad we cannot see into our future. But God had kept you and He will continue to keep you lifted up. Two cancer survivors in the same family. You can't go wrong with this recipe easy and so good. A+++++ for you. I'm on my laptop in bed. I have not cooked in years because I have Multiple Scorious very painful. I look at recipes that are easy for my husband to make. Watching your video, I thought I wanted to make this myself. My husband wheeled me into the kitchen. For me, it was hard to cook in a wheelchair turned to the side of the stove. I couldn't see over the pot. This cabbage sausage casserole is the best. We have made it three times now.

I had cooked a cabbage casserole from another recipe but when I saw that you sauted the cabbage and onions first I made one and now that is going to be how I cook mine from now on. I like it , sure brings back memories as Grandma grew allot of Cabbage in the garden . She had 18 dozen recipe's for it an caned allot of Sauerkraut and would serve it with Sausage as a treat once in awhile . I like mine with extra Sausage and keep up the great work Calvin and Marie !

@@SouthernCountryLiving Hey Calvin and Marie, I again loved this so much!! We are beef producers....but I get bored with so much beef. Our small town grocery in Sargent, Ne make a wonderful pork sausage. I think I will take a copy of your recipe to their store, to put by their sausage. I liked the crushing of crackers in the pkg, but bad arthritis in hands and wrists made me unable to do it. I grabbed by small sturdy bottle of olive olive oil and beat the crackers with that! Also, I didn't have fresh onion, and just added 1/4 C dried minced to cabbage, for last 5 mins or so, and a touch of salt and pepper. Husband Larry is wary of new recipe's , so I had to stomp on the floor (He's 3/4 deaf) and explained what was just out of the oven. I don't eat huge servings, but Larry and I ate half the 9x13.

I'm going to have to make this recipe, I don't think I've ever made a cabbage casserole. This looks so yummy, I know I'm on you page a lot looking at videos because y'all cook summary to me and the recipes are good down home cooking.✌👍👏

@@SouthernCountryLiving I am, but my mother in law is in rehab because she had a pacemaker put in and can’t get in bed by herself. Her daughter lives in the back of her but is in Las Vegas with her husband in the hospital neither him. He has lung cancer. They live in Az. But the only hospital that would take him is in Vegas. So please keep them in prayer 🙏. Thank you and Hod Bless ! They are not believers.

This looks so delicious! I remember making a similar dish back in the 70s. Although we used white sauce instead of mayonnaise and cream of chicken soup!

Looks really good. Was it cabbage soft or crunchy. I made a casserole almost like this but my cabbage was to crunchy.I don't know what I did wrong but if anyone can tell me I would love to hear.
