Bluder doesn't really get enough credit. She isn't a loud character like Mulkey so she seems to fly more under the radar of the national press. But she's been running a highly competitive program for more than 20 years at Iowa, constantly bringing teams much further than the talent level of the individual players. She's likely the reason Clark decides to stay and play for her home state in the first place. And the reason Clark has a team around that can answer the call at these highest levels of competition.

@johnmac Thank you. I didn't notice that LSU left the court until somebody pointed that out to me. I would have thought there would have been someone in the group that would have insisted they stayed for the National Anthem. 1st Quarter Angel Reese is who I as a Hawkeye fan fears!: ) But she faded by 3rd Q. (I have seen Angel fade in other games too; if she can get her endurance up, she will be right up there with CC once Angel goes pro: ) .... So by 3rd Quarter last night, Angel was outta steam or unfocused .... Felt bad for the position that HVL was put in as a 5'7 player against 6'0 CC ... I was surprised people said that LSU doesnt have a deep bench -- I feel like I am aware of so many phenomenal players on their team. And, please keep in mind that Iowa is down a starter too: Molly Davis hasn't been able to play at all during this year's tourney .... ...... ..... But soooooo happy!! Go Hawks!! Amazing job!!!

@slimjim You didn't even get her full range last night. Her best has been close to 40', and the night she broke the all time scoring record, it was from the logo of course, and a temporary marker has been put on the court there with approval from the NCAA to put something permanent on that spot. When guys teams came to Iowa and were doing shoot arounds, they were trying to hit from there and couldn't do it. The night Michigan State came to town, there were only a few seconds left in the game, score tied, and somehow Stuelke got it to Clark, and she put it up "from the beak". (the Tigerhawk beak at the center of the court), and drilled it.

Totally agree, great game! One note I would like to make is Sydney and Kate stepped up, but they always step up. The way Iowa plays people in multiple positions can make those in season numbers deceptive. It’s also important to note that Molly Davis started, and therefore their offensive numbers , and strategy based on opponent were different and ebbed and flowed in a way that can make the numbers deceptive. Especially with Sydney who was their go to on the bench, but didn’t have the minutes to be getting the numbers she is now. Both Sydney and Kate are strong defenders, get rebounds , take hard fouls , and do the hard work behind the scenes that don’t get the attention they deserve. I think Sydney got one of her first double doubles in the Big 10 game and she wasn’t even mentioned in any reviews of that game. So I’m not disagreeing with anything said here, I totally agree this was a great game for everyone on Iowa. They used three different post players as well and I think that was a good strategy to manage foul trouble and keep Angel responding to different styles of play. I think it’s important though to highlight that behind the scenes , blue collar basketball makes those giant shots and killer passes possible.

Reese wasn't the same... but it wasn't because of her ankle. @@wingman416 This was definitely a "let them play" game in terms of officiating. There were a ton of non-calls going both ways. It took some getting used to because I kept expecting whistles. They did a fair job of being sort of consistent about how significant a foul had to be before calling it but it's just a tough part of basketball that the officiating is so subjective by nature. But I did feel that the first foul of the game they hung on Stulke instead of Reese was just a freaking travesty. It seemed ridiculous but I want to find the clip to see if I missed something. Both teams ultimately played with a lot of class.

I went to a high school where the standard for girls basketball was set pretty high. So, for me to sit and watch a women's game from start to finish says a lot about how entertaining that game was last night. I had ZERO rooting interest. That game was followed up by two other All-American women but the same energy wasn't there. Y'all can hate on Angel or Caitlyn for that matter but the women's game needs this level of energy.

@@youthinkyouknowme5551 I'm a big sports fan and watch men's college hoops but couldn't name more than 5 players. However, the fact I can name Clark (Iowa), Reese (LSU), Wiggins (USC), Bueckers (UConn), Alissa Pili (Utah), Cardoso (So. Car.) and Georgia Amoore (VA Tech) in women's hoops speaks to the love the girls are getting, and I'm happy for them.

UCONN vs Iowa in the Final Four match will be a legendary battle between Caitlin and Paige. I want to see Clark win her first ring but I also want to see Geno win his 12th title (maybe get his revenge on SC).

Let’s hope Caitlin can “take it the house” . I truly coined that phrase many many years ago and most people don’t know what it means. I truly dud because I challenge anyone to explain how their interpretation was. We had a dairy farm outside San Antonio and our house was about 150 yards from the dairy barn. When we were done milking and cleaning up. I’d always say…..”let’s take it to the house”.

Man half the reason was Van Lith was put on Clark, and was getting COOOKED all night. She's like 5'7 on a 6'0er, AND they said Van Lith was sick so couldn't breath through her nose. I mean that is an inexcusable coach non adjustment.

Well, they tried Poa on Clark, but Iowa got her in foul trouble pretty quickly. And you can’t put Flau’Jae on Caitlin all game because she then won’t have any legs to shoot, and you need her offense. My guess is that’s why Mulkey played it that way.
