As a fan of LSU, i was telling people all week that Iowa was going to win. The reason being because of all the changes Iowa made. Last year when they lost the championship, I said they lost because they relied so much on C. Clark, that no one else seemed to really be involved in the game. She was taking a lot of long distance threes, etc. But this year, if you watch the last few games before Iowa played LSU, C Clark has been a different player. She's still able to hit her shots and do her thing, but now she has balanced her own skill set with the act of getting her team involved and helping them to shine and become better, which is what a great player does. Once i noticed her doing that, I said LSU doesnt stand a chance especially because their chemistry has been off. But big ups to both teams for being in the topic of greats. Im really hoping Clark gets her championship win this year.

I'm sorry, but everybody underestimates the rest of Iowa's team to the point where they say they are going to lose. Then, after the win, they give all the credit to Caitlin. The entire team performed better than LSU. Kate Martin had an awesome game. They stood with the taller bigs and were not over dominated, they held their own. Iowa is packed with experienced seniors, and it showed. Not to take ANYTHING away from Caitlin...I just think the rest of the team is not being recognized and given credit because of Caitlin's shadow. Kudos to Caitlin for always taking time to give credit and recognize her team, even ahead of herself, because they deserve it. Also, I hate the Steph Curry comparison. I think she's today's Larry Bird because she has that sixth sense for making plays, to get assists, knowing when to drive and when to hit a three. She has that same intelligence that Larry had,
@ld4974
@ld4974 Ай бұрын
The "rest of Iowa's team" is irrelevant if Caitlyn is not having a good game, especially at this level. Yeah, they score key buckets now and then, but they are not going to carry Iowa if Caitlyn is not scoring.
@brianoliver4308
@brianoliver4308 Ай бұрын
You are so right. Although Iowa would not have the success they are having without Caitlyn, history also shows that Iowa would not have made two straight final fours without a solid supporting cast. Consider, for example, Pete Maravich. He put up insane scoring numbers in college, averaging 44.2 points per game. He was also named Most Valuable Player in 1970. Yet the LSU team he was playing for never made the Final Four. In fact, they never made even made the NCAA Tournament (although they were invited to the National Invitation Tournament after posting a 22 - 10 record in his final season).
@jehuslay5238
@jehuslay5238 Ай бұрын
She's nothing like Larry Bird who was a tall forward and rebounder. She plays and looks JUST like Curry when he was at Davidson bringing up a program that literally had no talent. NONE of the rest of her teammates are good enough to play in the WNBA and maybe a couple are overseas. Don't be SORRY, EDUCATE yourself!!
@TheMonker2
@TheMonker2 Ай бұрын
@@jehuslay5238 Bird had incredible outside shooting in addition to the ability make incredible passing for assists and a basketball IQ and court sense to know where people would be before they even made the move to get there. That is exactly what Caitlin does. Perhaps you should educate yourself on Larry's game and not just what position he played. I never said that the rest of the Iowa team would be in the WNBA or even top NCAA players. It seems like you are not understanding what you read and apply whatever meaning you want so you can reply to it. But, they are MUCH better than they are being given credit for. Without Kate Martin stepping up on offense, they would have lost against LSU. The entire team hung in there on defense against LSU. Caitlin Clark alone would not be a final four team. She needs a good defense. She needs players who can receive and follow through on her assists. The general failure to recognize this is why pundits predicted they would lose one of the last two games...and were wrong. It seems to me that Iowa's final score was 94, not only Caitlin's 41. It is to the doom of Iowa's opponents to not recognize this fact...and it is to the embarrassment of critics who predict losses who underestimate the rest of Iowa's team.
@TheMonker2
@TheMonker2 Ай бұрын
@@ld4974 They do more than score "key buckets now and then." How can you say that when Kate Martin gets 21pts? Or, when 4 other players score in double digits against Colorado? The truth is that Iowa would not be in the Final Four without other players stepping up to contribute...they would have lost, badly, to Colorado if Iowa was not a well rounded team. Without Kate Martin stepping up, they would have lost to LSU. That is all I am saying, to give them some credit in addition to Caitlin. Yeah, Caitlin is a star, but that star shines brighter because of the players who surround her.

Kim Mulkey said it best after the game. When asked about the strategy of guarding Caitlin Clark, she said, "There's not a whole lot of strategy, you got to guard her, nobody else seems to be able to guard her, we didn't even guard her last year when we beat 'em." I think Stephen A. got it right; don't get in foul trouble early. How many opposing coaches have you heard say of Caitlin, "She's gonna get her shots." @@RobAustinKane that’s what flaujee did every single game up until this game. That what you do in big games like this… so van lith wasn’t exhausted on her the whole game ?? Your response makes no sense you sound like a fan girl. Caitlyn Clarke played all 40 minutes with no breaks wouldn’t she be exhausted??? Calling Caitlyn Clark the steph curry of women’s basketball is such a lazy take. That was like ppl calling Trae Young the next Steph curry. It’s only even a comparison cuz they all shoot from deep range. But they don’t play alike. Caitlyn Clark plays more like Trae Young and Luka Doncic cuz she’s ball dominant and focuses heavily on assisting the basketball. The Steph curry of women’s basketball is Paige Bueckers. The efficiency, the off ball movement, the screening and rescreening, she can shoot from anywhere, she’s an excellent finisher, and she’s an underrated defender.

Media talked up van Lith so I looked forward to the matchup of the near-equals; However, CC’s astonishingly smooth, seemingly effortless play made the former look like the latter's ungainly, aspiring much younger sister. I look forward to the upcoming, multi-accoladed Bueckers (5’11”, 140 lbs) vs CC (6’, 165lb). C. is 1” taller and 15 lbs heavier. But B might have longer arms and might be able to jump higher.

@@AshleyMona Oh so you want to compare team success now. UConn the f'ing college basketball FACTORY for women the past 30 yrs getting nothing but the best recruits, and you're using that as a template to define whos better. Hilarious, and intellectually dishonest. Are you purposely being misleading to fit your personal narrative? No one, and I mean no one cares about Maya Moore. Maya didnt sell out areans or break ratings records, Maya doesnt/didnt bring the male audience. Maya could not, in ten thousand years shoot Steph Curry level 3's and does not have anywhere near the bag or passing ability of Caitlyn Clark. Averaging 32 and 9 and dropping 30 and 40 point triple doubles is asinine and completely dwarfs anything Maya Moore ever did. Not in the same galaxy,. But oh herr derrrr big east player of the yr! lol, get out outta here
