Planet Fitness has the best business model, appeal to people who are really not into fitness but want to feel like they're doing something.

Anabolic Amaranth, yeah and the price is low enough a lot of people won’t cancel it. No one want to feel like a fatass and a cheapskate.

Not to mention they've cornered the market in location placement. Usually in a vacant space in the center of fast food and major roads

Planet Fitness isn't a gym, it's a club. Says so on the site. But people go in there to slack off or take selfies or run on treadmills or lay on the massage machine forever, they're still paying 10 bucks a month and people can't stop paying. And yeah. They're location placement is smart. Not my kinda place to exercise, but their inner business workings are very smart

@@CaptainFALKEN I’m guessing you’ve never been to planet fitness? Lol. I started and continue my journey their of 4 years all natty. And I’m looking like a baby zyzz. Atleast at my locations I’ve been to not a single soul is doing anything you talk about in your comment. Might be different at your location. But from what I’ve seen and heard from people internationally these rumours you’ve said isn’t common at all at planet fitness.

Man watching this video is amazing he basically opened a gym to have a free membership and the exact equipment he wanted. Props to the effort this all took.

I think the biggest thing is he understands the "identity" of his gym and grows it. His vision was focused on one aspect and while...I think...he broadened the ability to do more than just power lift to bring in "fringe" customers...they know what to expect each day. I don't power lift as a hobby, but I go to a power lifting gym because people there, for the most part, are as serious as I am about what they're doing there. Thanks

Alan Thrall made a similar point on a podcast about opening Untamed Strength. When he opened his gym, he lacked that identity and he struggled at first because of that.

I "only" had to build a 16x8 feet gym in my garage for personal use and it was much more costly and time consuming that I would have ever imagined. I can't fathom running your own gym: it's more than a job, it becomes your life.
@monkeyxpwner
@monkeyxpwner 4 жыл бұрын
How was it so costly, besides the initial investment, if it was just a personal gym?
@NaturalHypertrophy
@NaturalHypertrophy 4 жыл бұрын
@@monkeyxpwner For me it was because I had to cover the entire floor with a platform. The entirety of the cost had to be put up front, now that it's built it costs me 0$ but you got to be able to fork out a whole lot of money right out the gaits (if you like quality equipment at least.)
@monkeyxpwner
@monkeyxpwner 4 жыл бұрын
@@NaturalHypertrophy yeah true but if you consistently use it, you would have saved at least a few hundred within five years. I pay 310 a year for my gym and I'm lucky, some easily pay 400 or more. Plus privacy. Id say it's a major win

@@NaturalHypertrophy it's expensive. Especially if you don't want to buy junk. A good rack and a good bar will cost you $1000 easy. My setup was built over a few years. If anyone cares I have a really shitty video on my channel. It was the best money I have spent.

I'm curious what Andrew would recommend for what equipment to buy after you have the essentials. Given he aimed his gym in the beginning at the garage/cellar dwellers.
@andrewbolinger
@andrewbolinger 4 жыл бұрын
Depends what you value. I have my opinions on what accessory equipment is best to have for getting stronger. That sort of makes a priority list and I work my way down that every time I have extra space, while making sure to have enough of the essentials compared to how many members we have (i.e. enough racks, bars, etc.)

We are lucky where we are that a lot of people in the strength community in Calgary are just good people. It's not always the case depending on where you are. Another interesting thing is the fact that the gym is a little rough around the edges drives a lot of the weird people away for some reason.

I need advice on whether chest supported rows are good, they are a big part of my routine. I do good mornings and chest supported row to make up for the fact I can't do deadlifts because it flairs up my hernia
@estefanoespinoza1797
@estefanoespinoza1797 4 жыл бұрын
If you dont deadlift you would not be better at deadlift, thats all. You could do other exercices to work the back or hamstrings, chest suppoted rows and hamstring curls are going to support you, also if you want to be more athletic or strong in a functional way you can add some jumps or plyos
