Back in my early Vanderbilly days about 5 years ago, this was the solo I challenged myself to learn well enough to do a lesson on, as part of the whole VB experience. It was the only lesson I ever posted. There's no way around it, it's a tedious solo to break down, tho you did a much better job of keeping things flowing than I did (my lesson came in three parts totaling 30 minutes - yawn!). The interesting thing to me is I transcribed that solo myself from the studio recording, and it's gratifying to see all the positions and fingerings I worked out are nearly identical to what you show in your lesson.

Hearing this by itself gives a different perspective kinda. And you sure make it simpler(that's a word right?) Brother! You're right , seems like you'll never stop! Not sure what you used to record this but being able to hear every lil tink of the strings in this instance, is actually helpful. You rock Dale!

Just curious since im about to pull the trigger on a Tribute gold top, what gauge strings do you run on your Les Pauls?

I've only found 2 people on KZfaq that did this solo perfectly, you're one of them. Good job my man, shit is hard as fuck.

I've been trying for days to watch this but it won't play, though your other videos will. Is there a problem with it?

I'm sorry, it is working when I try it, not sure what is happening.

Who makes that nifty little tweed amp? ....sorta sounds/looks like a modded Princeton

Headstrong...called a Lil' King - and your exactly right - it's a blackface Princeton clone. This one is a 1x12. Thanks for the post!

tonedr thx for the reply! Is the drive natural amp OD or is it a pedal ? Thx, i appreciate all your vids....I checked out the headstrong site...how about the "s" version of that Princeton with kt88's (!?) ...that really peaks my interest.
@tonedr6 жыл бұрын
the drive is from a Fulldrive 2 pedal - i also us an Exotic RC Booster - glad you checked in the Headstrong! If you want to contact them, Wayne is the gentleman who builds these great amps.

tonedr thx again for the tip...I really like headstrong concept of being able to customize the classic designs with tube and speaker choice....but not so much that it totally departs from the og design...a big bottle Princeton?! ...what a simple yet genius idea!

Great lesson, thank you. All in A minor?
@tonedr6 жыл бұрын
so appreciate you checking this out! The tune is in A and it's basically a solo that uses some major ideas with a flated 3rd as well. Kind of fluctuates between major and a blues side as well.

That’s what I was thinking. Could not see exactly; this was a tremendous help. My band is doing this and I have solo duties...wanted to get the framework in case I get lost...lots of soloing!

The camera is too far from the guitar. It's hard to see what your doing.
