Smugglers hijack the Mesquiteers truck, but the police catch up, kill the smugglers, and then try to arrest the Mesquiteers as part of the gang. They escape but now have to prove their innocence while being hunted as wanted men.

Terhune plays Alibi or Lullaby depending on the movie.

In the Range Busters movies he's Alibi. In the Mesquiteers movies he's Lullaby.

Republic owned the rights to the Lullaby character but following a wage dispute with Republic the three actors went to Monogram pictures as the Range Busters with Max Terhune as Alibi instead. Similarly the Tucson Smith character was Republic's so Ray Corrigan took his own name with the'Crash' nickname from The Undersea Kingdom. That film was also Republic's but Corrigan was able to get rights to the name because it was his nickname during his athletic career
