Hey Matt! Some of your older cooking videos started popping up on my feed. Must be because I've been watching more cooking videos lately to get new ideas. You cooked that cornbread perfectly! Nicely done brother! Have you thought about doing more of these? A hot meal on a cold day in the woods is the best, and these type of videos can really motivate some folks. I appreciate everything that you do.

Matt, I am appalled by a statement you made in the video ... "It's just cornbread" ... Mate, IT'S CORNBREAD!!!! There isn't many other kinds of breads/biscuits that beat cornbread LOL I like the idea of making a sort of oven to cook it in. I'd seen something similar done and I had good success with my Snowpeak 700 cup .. a couple of small pebbles in the bottom and one of those silicon muffin cups, put the mix in the muffin cup, lid on the pot and the pebbles keep it off the direct fire .. perfect. Nice tip on the bit of olive oil to keep it from sticking too. Man, subscribing to your channel is gonna cause me to do more cooking LOL

Hey Robert, thanks for watching! Your right my friend cornbread is some awesome stuff when done right. I think it would be great if my videos inspire you to go out and cook more! I would take that as the highest compliment. Feel free to share ideas with me anytime!

Looks really good. Corporal’s Corner suggested your channel and it looks like a winner. Did you create a n air space between the cups when baking? Cornbread is a great staple. Can go with about anything. Do you ever make mush?
@blackhatbushcraft6 жыл бұрын
I have made corn mush a few times. It is pretty good. In this setup I just sat the cup in the pot but it allowed a bit of airspace around the cup especially since it was suspended higher over the fire. Cornbread is one of those good old fashioned staple foods that is always welcomed:) Thank you for tuning in! I appreciate your kind words.

great video. you are a true woodsman. what kind of pot do u use? again, great video.

Thank you so much Candace! I really appreciate your kind words. In this video I was using a 25+ year old aluminum Boy Scout pot with a stainless folding sierra cup inside. 90% of the time I use a Zebra Pot (stainless) 14cm. I have found them to be fantastic for campfire cooking. I also have a no name pot I bought at Goodwill that is a favorite. Take care.

what is the bottle called that he used to hold the olive oil?
@blackhatbushcraft7 жыл бұрын
Hi Johny, That glass bottle came from Hobby Lobby if I remember correctly. It was great until it started leaking slightly. It was a little heavy to in my kit so I replaced it with a lighter bottle for that purpose. I still like those old style bottles though. Take care,

Sweet corn"bread" is not really cornbread at all! It is corn cake just like any other cake except it is made from corn meal instead of wheat flour.

There is no such thing as sweet cornbread. If it is sweet It is corn cake, not bread.
