Letting him research and educate himself is a master stroke, because like he said, most of the police haven't a clue when it comes to the law, a lot of them just make it up as they go along. Now he knows he can pass on his new found knowledge to his mates. 👊

More likely he's fibbing about having a drone himself,and he's just trying to build some camaraderie, as a "way in".

The first constable was excellent, no ego, done his research before asking the relevant question, cant get any better, a lot of police officers and constables can learn a lot from him.

Big up the first officer . Spot on , you are being tested and passed with flying colours . best practice is not to police on personal feelings and you were open and honest . 2nd lad had a good demeanor too .

The first guy was very good. Just calm and collected, didn't escalate and just asked pertinent questions and was just smart about things.. Admitted he didn't know the exact drone laws and just educated himself on the spot. This is an example of a good police officer.

Cops willing to listen are good cops, nice to see for a change, but still the most popular comments on here are cop hating just because theyre cops, goes to show the mentality of most ppl, they dont give credit where credit is due they just want to hate on cops which is quite sad
@nicotoscani17076 ай бұрын
that's not true at all.... they could be suspecting he's an undercover cop testing them ... also being aware of being filmed can make the biggest of s*bags appear decent people... most cops aren't smart enough to put on an act for the camera though fortunately

The fact you are filming is public as people can see you are filming. But the reasons motives etc as to why you are filming can remain private under article 8 of the human rights act. Filming is a lawful activity. We the public don't have to explain why we are doing a legal activity.

This interaction shows that if all concerned are kind and considerate and take the time to listen and learn, the chat can be very pleasant. I wonder if other Plods and drone operators will learn from this? I wonder?!?

Btw if your legislation says "if your drone has a camera" then one easy way around the law is to instead use a synthetic aperture radar. Higher resolution than a camera, yet absolutely NOT a camera.

Yes you can Film a Police Station From the Pavement I mean there’s Plane Watcher’s Train Spotter’s and LFB Watcher’s Too ! Way not Cop Watcher’s ?.
@Innesb6 ай бұрын
I’ve always liked the “trainspotter” analogy. Not many people do it (to the best of my knowledge, I have never met one and I’m in my 50s), most people think it’s an ‘odd’ thing for an adult to do, yet most people have heard of trainspotters and wouldn’t consider calling the police if they saw one (nor are the police likely to challenge one). Similarly, drone flying is legal, and not many people do it. Having said that, everyone I have ever discussed drones with finds the topic at least somewhat interesting, and has expressed an interest in seeing a drone fly, or at least, seeing the footage from a drone flight in their locality, which makes it less ‘odd’ than trainspotting. Drones must be now common enough (certainly in the UK) for all police staff to be aware that it’s typically legal to fly one, and understand basics of the related laws, especially pertaining to sub 250g drones.

Another good video 👍 Just to clarify something though.. you don’t need to take a test to get an operator ID. You simply register & pay the annual fee (approx £10.50) The test you were referring to was for a flyer’s Id. You don’t need to have this (yet) as it’s not mandatory.. but could be when the law changes in two years time. However, the test is fairly easy and is a good idea to take it anyway because it helps you to understand the rules. Cheers, Steve.

You do not need to take the test or get a Flyer’s ID (yet) because you are both the owner and the pilot.. and you’re over 18 You may need to take the test & get a Flyer’s ID in a couple of years when the law changes, but for the moment it’s not mandatory (still a good idea to take the test tho) All you currently need is an Operator ID.
