Abbey, I’m happy for you that you created a product you love and are proud of, but I really wish you weren’t so vague about the criticism on neue theory. Of course you’re not perfect, but some of us would really appreciate it if you actually addressed the issues people have and the questions they ask because it seems like with neue theory you did a lot of things that you would criticize if others did it. Natalie Fox, another RD, has a video on neue theory that I thought was very insightful, but also disappointing. I wish you would address valid criticism like that and not just sweep it under the rug by quoting Taylor Swift. I’m sure many of us would be willing to listen to your explanations. Other than that, interesting video!

@@michaeldonnan6767I didn’t give examples because that would make the comment way too long to read it and I couldn’t explain it half as a good as the RD who I referenced. But if you want me to give an example, take a look at the supposed effects of the ingredient and the studies that supposedly support this because then you might see that there’s not as much evidence for every ingredient’s effectiveness as Abbey would probably expect from any other influencer’s product. And let’s not pretend she wouldn’t make a snarky comment about a price like this if someone else had launched a protein powder for over $3 per portion. I’m not saying this as a hater because I appreciate a lot of Abbey’s content. But I am disappointed and I’m not the only one.

*responds to criticism of her product with an advertisement shilling for her product* You’ve ripped apart many supplement brands and natural health practices for being useless. Until you did natural treatment for your SIBO, and it worked. As someone with complex chronic illness, when nothing else worked, natural treatments saved my sanity and possibly my life. And apparently yours, despite your history of shunning them. You’ve deemed many things as safe because there’s not yet evidence that they aren’t safe (make it make sense). Even when someone avoids them for a health condition. The “holier than thou” “I’m the expert, I know best” attitude is off putting. Grouping all criticism as “haters” that you’ll “never please” is such a great cope. You don’t get to cherry pick when being critical fits your brand. Maybe some of the criticism you face has a point. You talk about accessibility and made a largely inaccessible product, that you’d probably rip apart if it wasn’t your brand.

I love the information you share, your videos have been a great experience for me and truly I wish you success. I've been feeling this for a while too. It's like she slowly slid into a more emotionally manipulative position than straight forwardly honest like her previous content. Although, I'm not saying she's done this on purpose, I don't think she has, but I have noticed that my subconscious is picking up on more and more red flags than before in her behavior and words, and I haven't been able to put my finger on exactly what that change is. But I don't appreciate it. Perhaps the sass has been taken too far? Entitlement/high-horse is a good way of putting it, but doesn't quite include the whole issue. I feel like she used to take a stance that was more openly kind and compassionate, and it's more stilted now. Something about it is fake, or unprofessional maybe? I also don't care as much about her product. I'm happy she's happy about it but it's honestly a luxury item with a price tag like that and it's way beyond what most people can reasonably afford, even if it is high quality. I'm not here to hear about marketing, I'm hear to learn about nutrition in a safe environment. And it doesn't feel say anymore, there's an elephant in the room. Maybe it's just stress.

You completed a bachelor's degree in nutrition and an internship to get your dietitian accreditation in Ontario. You started your career in media right afterwards. Since then, you have never worked with patients, in clinical settings, nor in academia, and the content you produce is primarily based on your personal experiences and basic literature reviews. There isn't anything inherently wrong with that, but given your lack of professional credentials, I find it concerning how dismissive you are about other people's opinions -- especially those who are more qualified than you via specialised training, clinical experience, and extensive academic qualifications and research experience, such as the registered dietitian who reviewed your product claims on her KZfaq channel.

I find this really interesting. I appreciate all of the research and the shared information. This actually sort of supports my decision to not overly suppliment. I haven't really seen evidence that supports that suppliments are all that beneficial for healthy people that eat a balanced diet. I do take a vitamin D suppliment because that level is low for me, but that's about it for now I think. I would absolutely feel more confident taking this powder after all of the care you have put in to this if I were to ever go down the route so I don't want to in any way express disapproval for this product. This is probably really great for those that struggle with having time to put together balanced meals or who want to hike up the protein level in their smoothies. But in terms of a health perspective, I think it is also important to note that supplimenting protein may not be necessary for good health.

I ended up using a chip clip to keep it closed. Second, it has a weird taste a smell. I ended up using the powder in a muffin recipe since I didn’t want to waste and it still has the smell but the weird taste if now covered up by the peanut butter in my muffin recipe. I don’t know if it’s worth repurchasing just to make protein muffins in the future. Maybe I’ll give it one more try with the chocolate flavor to see if I prefer the taste of that one more.

Oh no!!! We heard about the closure from another client earlier today and we are trying to get to the bottom of that with our manufacturer! Would you be open to sending us some pictures of the closure to support@neuetheory.com? Regarding taste and smell, I'm really sad to hear this because we worked SO hard on the flavouring. But I am learning that taste and smell are definitely personal things. Have you ever had monk fruit before? For first-timers, it's a sort of new flavour - it's sweet but different than sugar. It was definitely our favourite sweetener option because it didn't have a bitter or metallic aftertaste like products that used stevia, for example. Regarding the smell, that was also a focal point for me because when we were sampling competitors and what we DIDN'T want for neue theory, off-putting smell, we realized, was common with pea protein brands. I personally love where we ended up but i'm so sorry it's off putting for you. Ginger also isn't a vanilla girl though and if you ask her - she'd always grab the chocolate before the vanilla.

I, for one, am more than happy to pay for a product that has been well vetted and thought about. Anyone who thinks you're in it to make a quick buck probably has no IDEA about the lengths it takes to conceptualize and create a product from scratch and all the energy you have to spend making sure a product that thousands of people are going to consume is one that is of the highest quality and standard. I am so grateful that we have folks like you in the minority who share content and products based on the evidence you see rather than playing on people's psychology to get clicks and views and purchases. Purchasing your protein powder was a literal no brainer for me bc of the years you have spent building your brand on transparency and evidence as opposed to saying what people want to hear.

Agree with all of this and wanted to add that product development is insanely expensive (and I assume Neue Theory is funded by Abbey and her partners, as opposed to a VC fund or whatever). I HOPE they make money and the brand thrives so that it continues to exist (and eventually become profitable), but launching a product in and of itself is definitely not a “cash grab.” Honestly a lot of the “sellout” criticism she receives feels like misogyny repackaged as consumer feedback - people don’t like that a woman (especially one whose personal brand as an influencer is built on relatability) is marketing an expensive product at a price she feels reflects its true value and will recoup cost of development, production, etc, and also be profitable.

Hey Abby, long time subscriber and fan here. I have a question I would really love you to answer. When it comes to Fiber I have been having trouble getting in my 25-30 grams each day. I recently took a peek at the nutritional information on the back of some Franz Keto bread and was shocked and pleasantly surprised to see 11 grams of fiber per slice. I wondered how it was possible to get that much fiber in a single slice of bread. I am not Keto at all, but plan to eat this bread for the additional fiber. Where does it come from and is it possible that this is just a marketing tactic for Keto eaters?

I actually purchased Abbey's protein powder and I love it so far! I agree the price is a bit steep and may preclude me from purchasing the powder as frequently as I would want to in the future. However, the taste and texture are great. I bought the vanilla one and it has a creamy flavor with a tinge of sourness that I love. It does taste different from other powders...you can tell a lot of thought went into making it taste good. Let's see if, with time, I feel any results from the probiotics and other goodies in the product! Congrats Abbey and team!🙂

Depends on if you have a genetic mutation called MTHFR. That can affect how you methylate b vitamins. For example, I can’t absorb cyanocobalamin but I can absorb methylcobalamin. Same goes for folate… I have to take L5 methyl folate. Up to 40% of the population has this mutation. If you’re curious to know if you have it, a simple blood test will provide an answer. Many people don’t know they do.

This is what I can’t stand about the internet. She is clearly responding to things people have said. She doesn’t need to call it an ad, because she’s not paying herself to talk about her product. Finally, people aren’t happy unless someone they’re challenging immediately “owns up” to being all of the terrible things and doing all of the terrible things you said they are/have done, even if those things aren’t true. If you don’t support the product, don’t buy it. If it’s too costly, choose something else. If you think a dietitian shouldn’t make a product, buy an athlete’s. It must be exhausting to be this way.

@@user-fc4xg5ym1t I'm not a vegan, (although I used to be.) You asked me why I assumed she was talking about animal protein so I walked you through my thought process. As far as "you should know that whole foods are better for you than protein powders," I think that's generally true but not an absolute. I thought I gave a pretty good example with the bacon and eggs vs. smoothie with protein powder. (Which do you think is better for you?) Whole foods are great but if you want to be absolutist about them you have to say goodbye to things like olive oil, yogurt, and nut butters.

@AbbeysKitchen
@AbbeysKitchen 2 ай бұрын
Hi Kinsey, we always recommend speaking to your doctor before trying any new supplements, and that is particularly important while pregnant or breastfeeding. Generally speaking, protein powders are not recommended during pregnancy unless specifically instructed by your healthcare provider, but there is far less concern while breastfeeding. What’s most important is choosing a high quality, third-party tested protein powder to minimize risk of heavy metal contamination.
