It just seems so odd how that little tub had 640lbs of mercury in it.
@ossiehalvorson77022 жыл бұрын
It's like, consciously I know how dense mercury is being metal. It cognitively makes perfect sense that a tub of the stuff would be extremely heavy. Actually physically seeing it, my brain doesn't accept it. It looks like I should be able to grab that tub and lug it around with a little effort.

@fish42255 жыл бұрын
Mercury doesn't soak up, it's too dense for that.
@highfire6665 жыл бұрын
It's not really the density that causes it. Mercury is extremely cohesive and less adhesive than water, that's why it can clump together to create those big droplets and generally doesn't stick to surfaces. Water "sticks" more easily to another material and makes less big droplets which will end up in the porous structure of a paper towel. On top of that water also sticks to paper towels because of the cellulose fibers, which it will cling to even more.

Somebody didn't watch the blood test result video. The only brave part of this is the chance of losing balance. Touching mercury is not remotely the same as eating things that have _compounds_ of mercury in them, like all the fish some "healthy" people may be eating too much of. Sodium makes explosive fire in contact with _water._ Chlorine is poisonous. _Sodium chloride_ is a vital part of our physiology in proper doses, and makes fried potatoes taste better.

7:25 That's a common misconception with water in swimming pools because know humans can be buoyant enough to actually float. There's no way to naturally stabilize the pressure because gravity (your body weight) will *ALWAYS* be more dominant than every other existing force

I would imagine you could get some interesting patterns happening if you find some imaginative ways to resonate the body of mercury and not just it's surface. Maybe even expose individual balls of mercury to various frequencies and make them dance. All the best, from Ryan in England..... 😎🙏🙏🙏😎
