Yep, offense has scored most points and defense has given up most points, yet all they talk about is as if the losing is all on Herb. In fact he’s the only reason they didn’t lose even more.

The defining moment for me was when watching Herbert under the most extreme pressure in the final game of the season two years ago. They were two touchdowns down late in the 4th quarter against the Raiders, and he made 4 successful 4th down plays and tied the game when he had to. But in overtime Staley made a bonehead decision and called a timeout, instead of accepting a tie where both clubs would have made the playoffs.

Bro that last touchdown he threw in that game is one of the best throws I've ever seen. If mahomes did it espn would still be replaying it today

I think the timeout is overblown and the possible change in outcome is exaggerated. The real problem was Staley’s horrendous run defense and that decision to go for it from their own 18 yard line in the 3rd quarter of a 3 point game…unbelievable decision

It is absolutely an indictment on all of these clowns. Look at Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen man, they'd be cooked with a 28th ranked D. Tom Brady is not nearly as good as we try and prop him up to be. Pat has had major help. I still think Chris Jones is their team MVP multiple years.

Until the past year and a half or so, Mahomes suffered from horrible defenses. The Chiefs had to score 30 points to win. Mahomes is always the team MVP, if you know anything about the Chiefs.

Rivers had some pretty good defenses early in his career. They went far once and could have gotten far again a lot of other times. Small failures kept them from a Super Bowl. Not to mention they had to deal with all those loaded 2000s teams.

Two projected outside corners who can't tackle well, struggle in man-coverage and often give up receptions because they play the ball aggressively. current slot corner favorite gave up 1000 yards in his college. Dline's only investment was a 4th rounder who plays the run and Poona Ford who only plays the run. If LAC improves this year it's 20th instead of 28th. Maybe that's the razor's edge they need to improve a few games, but it's obvious the defensive investment is being saved for next year in FA after one of, or both Mack and Bosa come off the books.

"Electrify"? What we liked at Michigan was when we beat Ohio. It wasn't about razzle-dazzle. It was making the other guy break. When Rod Moore picked off Kyle McCord, the other guy broke. Michigan broke the Buckeye line. MHJ didn't come back to the ball as hard as Rod Moore did. The Buckeyes broke first. I know Los Angeles likes the showtime, the razzle-dazzle... but when Stanford took it to USC, it was the same thing. Harbaugh's team broke the Trojans. Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, hear the lamentation of their women.

that won't work against the Chiefs. It's cool, to use hyper-masculine adjectives and think that's a strategy, but he's starting at a deficit against a team that isn't turning over coordinators and at this point is waltzing to a third championship appearance.

Kay laid it out quite well. Herbert has never had a good defense...not even a middling D...And porous OLines. He has been statistically one of the most pressured QB's in football year after year.

Us Charger fans have been saying this for yrs lol… Give Herbert at least an AVERAGE defense (let alone a good one)… And this conversation around Herbert would be a lot different…. then turn around and look at the HC and staffs hes had. Theyve lost so many games by single digit margins because off poor game management by his coaches…. And lets not even bring up the fact that hes never had a proper run game to lessen the pressure on his shoulders like other of those top QBs on the list have had. A guy cant win by himself, no matter how much importance he has on that field.

Look at the injuries to Him and the WR's while he has been there. Lost Slater and Lindsley for the season the past 2 years. Eckler rushing for 32 yards a game didn't help.
