I recently traveled in China, and I think the main reason they continue to use CLTC is because most people really are just driving around cities and that test reflects this usage. For long distance travel no country in the world can match the Chinese high speed rail system in terms of how fast, smooth, and comprehensive it is. Took me from Beijing to Chongqing in 7 hours flat cruising at a smooth quiet 350 kph. Beats both air travel and road trip when you've got that HSR system.

Hi Wheelsboy you're looking like million bucks in that driver seat, I would buy this car too, But the damn politicians are dictating our life They are deciding what car I can drive, As a personal protest, I decide not to purchase any cars in the next 4 to 5 years my commute to work plus traffic jam on highways cost me $300 to $350 for gas every month, I seriously consider quitting my job and find some work close to where I live given hourly pay only at $16/hour right now

You probably won't get this one, but BYD has just launched Sea Lion 06 in Australia, no? Sea Lion 06 is basically the BYD Song in China, which is the crossover variant of Qin. Won't be quite as efficient, but will be far roomier. Presumably after BYD launches the new Song with this same 5.0 DM-i powertrain, it will come to Australia at some point. Maybe you'll even get the ones made in their new Thailand factory.

@@hardcoreep BYD is in the process of buying their own car transport fleet, ordering 7 massive transport ships several years ago. Only the first ship has been delivered to them, with the other 6 on the way. When that fleet of BYD's own ships are all up and running, that should help decrease shipping costs for BYD and further increase their exports to various international markets such as yours. Plus due to the level of competition in China, every carmaker must iterate their products quickly. BYD is tweaking all their models on a yearly basis and doing full redesigns sometime after just 3 years. When the new Song launches, BYD will pretty quickly discontinue its production because Chinese consumers will not want to buy the older stuff, and ramp their new model. So hopefully that means export markets won't have to wait too long to also get the new models.

Range is tested under ideal condition. Just like gas car mileage is not normally easily achievable in normal driving. But even at this range is very impressive especially for city driving which most people more often than long range highway speed. The European protectionism will only hurt their consumers but not help their car industries since I don't see other countries would want to buy the expensive less range gas cars from Europe. US is a different situation where they don't care at all even if it hurt their car companies but US is going to want to sacrifice the European cars first.

What is the wheelsize of this car? Yes wheelsboy. Those demonstration where they showed 2000km+ range was done lapping quite a bit of the around ring road in Xian. Those circuit like environment can increase your fuel efficiency. Your test basically showed that in EPA equivalent test cycle it would be 52-ish MPG which the current Camry already gets (and it is not a PHEV). As for Toyota PHEV, RAV4 Prime SUV has been demonstrated to achieve 50MPG (and that is in mile-above sea-level in Colorado) and Prius Prime when u really try to hypermile can get 100mpg

I know people (and/or bots) that replied to my comment are mostly sad internet trolls but for the interest of real fans of cars, the car I drove was a 2014 Peugeot 308 1.6 ehdi with 115hp. You can check on multiple social sites where people share real life fuel consumption that it achieves very easily less than 5 liters in roads/highway, in my case less than 4.5. It's the magic of diesel (plus add some mileage to the engine and good tires). 1100 km is easily reachable within legal limits in Europe with a cheap and reliable car that is light (about 1200kg), has more than enough power and torque (320NM) and takes no time to recharge, unlike electrics. Actually, I guess I could achieve much better mileage if I drove slowly, used 16" rims instead of 17" and I wasn't using A/C all the way.
I drove these NEW electric cars until they DIED!
