Here is a head to head comparison that I created to compare the JTR captivator 2400 to the new TG customs DDF 12. This is a dual 12 inch subwoofer with down firing and forward firing drivers that really performs like you wouldn't believe.

The prototype had the budget Dayton Audio speakers in it. For warranty purposes, It will come with the vastly upgraded drivers in the regular production model, which can take a beating all day long without breaking a sweat. Those drivers will exceed 3 inches of total excursion and can handle the 4,000 watt amp. The starting price with a 2400 watt amp on that one will be $4200 ( I know it's expensive, but it will beat the pants off of just about everything). $4800 with the 4,000 watt amp.

Not sure how long that dual 12 will be in my theater before going to its new home, but that sounds like a fun comparison.

So the speaker below on the 10" sub is like a fake speaker, a band pass feature.. I had one subwoofer like this one, the real sub was like 4" and the exterior sub was like 8". I was 15 years old ha ing that sub I did blew it up because I was not expecting to have a tiny sub inside doing an extreme excursion, I was just watching the 8" not kicking enough. But in summary. The sound is like no other.. it is better, not exactly a flat response but clean and deep, less boomy than a ported and as acurate as a sealed sub.

Both the the dual 10 inch and the dual 12 inch have 2 active subs. That's one of the reasons why they are capable of such impressive output.

Is it the same with the 4000ulfs do these subs just lack mid bass? What's a good sub that does both dig deep but has good mid bass.

@@righteousbuilds3576 i do both 2 channel music and home theater would u sacrifice mid bass for more deep bass or sacrifice mid bass for more deep bass. And which commercial sub do u think does both dig deep and has good mid bass. I know that would be the perfect sub but don't know if 1 exist unless u can make 1 lol.

I'm using Dayton Audio 12 inch reference high excursion drivers. They actually sound really good. They are a budget option, but for a budget speaker, they're pretty impressive.
