I show you how to make molds for your miniatures or scale models using hot glue, just like you would with blue stuff, oyumaru or rapid mold. I use this technique for my nurgle models and terrain.

The other nice thing about this is that if your mold fails or if you don't want it any more, you should be able to melt it down and make a new mold.

hey there turns out you CAN actually do molds straight from the hot glue gun as long as you lubricate the model with oil of some kind, after watching this video over 50 times, I was filled with enough inspiration from @miscast to risk losing my sculpt and it somehow ended up working! Time to cast it in plaster now buh byeeeeee

Cool! Also, if you want to prevent bubbles in the surfice of your plaster cast, like the tiny ones you see in the final example, apply some of the plaster mix with a brush inside the mold before pooring in the bunch.

I had tried hot glue molds from without seeing anyone talk about them online, and found small bits were ok, but two part molds were hard, but I was using it straight from the gun. Never did I think about boiling it and folding it over, but now I'm going to go find some stuff to work on and hopefully not burn myself.

If the detail is not too fine you can also use Plasticine. Push the master into the plasticine and put the lot in the freezer (to make the plasticine hard), de-mould and then make the copy with plaster or epoxy putty of your choice. You will lose some detail but it's good enough for many things.

Dude omg man, right from the beginning i was cursing words so bad from wtf amazement of 'how did i not figure this out/ i knew there had to be a hot glue method out there that works!' Basically my curse words before commenting here were full of good intentions, lol Thank you beyond much for the detailing of it and explaining the differences in temp, way to do it, etc, AND doing it right from the glue gun because I dodged a bullet seeing this right before I literally was about to do it, so whew! Thank you for doing this video and making it simple to see what you're doing! Have you had any fails with the glue sticking to the templates doing it this way? Or take any precautions by coating them first, just in case? I know you said how the water forms a skin but did see as you worked with it sometimes it would stick to your gloves. 🤔 I'm trying to get very shallow/small impression details and want to be sure I can still see them. Thanks!
