I can't believe none of these "guests" didn't immediately ask if there had been a mistake. I'm a pretty seasoned world traveler, and I'd ask questions on the spot!

I doubt it, else they would have had to have that room booked for as many guests as they filmed.

This was great. My first thought if they put me in that suite would be “SCORE!!” Second thought would be "Okay, what's the catch? Are they going to add 10 grand to my bill now?"

I once got upgraded to a suite for a one night stay because I was traveling late and didn't get in to the hotel late that night--it had 3 bedrooms, (I think 3 1/2 bathrooms), a full chef's kitchen (with the island), living room, laundry room, office with real books, and the real perk was a spa and hot tub on the roof/balcony. It was a top level suite. The only problem was I got in so late I looked at it and saw the bed and went to sleep. Woke up the next morning and had to check out to be on my way. And this was for the price of a regular room ($150 or so).

That happened to me once as well. It's nice, but I really had no use for it. I was just travelling alone and going away the next day as well. I just spent the evening watching TV as I would have in a normal room.

I once got upgraded from a 3 star hotel to the Ritz-Carlton resort in Hawaii because a hurricane destroyed the place I had reservations at a couple weeks prior.

I once got an upgrade that Felt like a major downgrade. And technically by cost and location it was a true upgrade. However, the room that my husband and I had before the upgrade had a fireplace, huge balcony over a grassy area, King size bed, tiny kitchen, nicer sitting area and more a bit of a walk from the pool and desk, but after the upgrade it was next to the main pool where music was blasting, you could awkwardly watch people swimming, it was noisily in the middle of everything, it had two smaller beds and it was just and old hotel room. I was crushed. At the time I was too shy to complain, but it was actually awful. I told my husband how sad I was, but he was convinced that the other room couldn’t possibly have been less and we probably couldn’t afford it. It wasn’t a scam or anything(I don’t think), both before that time and after that time I stayed in the other room with the balcony and the fireplace. It really turned out the upgrade really was just a downgrade in our opinion, but now I am terrified to ever get offered an upgrade. 😝

Me and my coworkers travel frequently for work, and a few months ago we checked into our hotel, and they were short of regular rooms, and they put one of my coworkers is the top-floor suite, and it was incredible! It was a two story room, with a fully stocked kitchen, a jacuzzi bathtub the size of a small pool, and the suite even had a baby grand piano. We had the best week ever traveling for work. We cooked dinner in her room, and used the bath tub as a hot-tub, and the staff was so kind and accommodating! We made sure to tip well, and it was so worth it! It was like a working vacation, and the staff really liked us being there because we were so appreciative of their services! It was one of the best working weeks of our lives!

I had something nowhere that extravagant at a Hilton in San Francisco, but still nice. When I checked in, the front desk employee suggested I upgrade. I said no and he said OK. I got up to my room, and thought this was great for a standard room, thinking the hotel must have remodeled or something. On the morning I left, the hotel slipped the final room bill under my door. They added about $500 to what I paid for "upgrading." I called the front desk and said I didn't upgrade. They said they'll call me back once they checked. When they called backed they said they couldn't locate anything I signed for the upgrade, so they lowered the bill to what I reserved the room for. I didn't sign anything for an upgraded room. Morale of the story: Don't sign anything at the front desk without reading it carefully. It could be an unintended upgrade. If I was put in an enormous suite like this, I would have immediately thought something was up.

You have to remember, the people who usually get these rooms that can afford to pay for them live in one or more houses that are much larger than this penthouse suite, so for them this hotel suite is smaller than their house. Just like hotel rooms the rest of us stay in are smaller than our house.

not in any hotel that someone would want to actually stay in, anyway! hahahaha sidenote though, there are some great AIRBNB places. i'm not advertising for them or anything lmao i just have been to a few places that were as cheap as 60 bucks a night to have an entire granny-unit house all to yourself.

I'd question if the Champaign was extra cost? the basket? etc. I don't even touch hotel snacks in mini-bars with their inflated prices.

Geesh! I got an upgrade ONCE. Rather than a generic room, I got a one bedroom and told that story for the next 15 years. 😂

I’d be proofreading my receipt multiple times. Confirming and reconfirming the price and that having servants was included. And if that wasn’t enough, I’d be like, is this champagne gonna cost extra? What’s the charge of that fruit basket? And if that wasn’t enough, I’d eventually just ask for a regular room due to being so uncomfortable.

The one guy passing his shoes around yet he paid a mere $89 for the room. Some people just shouldn't have wealth for this reason. He'd be a nightmare if he were actually wealthy.
